EnergyConservation – Leaders Share Single Vehicle During Rajasthan Public Visit
EnergyConservation- Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for reducing fuel consumption and encouraging responsible use of energy resources appeared to influence official arrangements during a high-profile political visit in Rajasthan on Thursday.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma travelled together in one vehicle during their visit to Merta in Nagaur district, drawing attention for the simplified convoy arrangement and symbolic message on fuel conservation.
Compact Convoy Draws Public Attention
The visit stood out because VVIP movements in India are typically accompanied by long motorcades involving several security and administrative vehicles. In contrast, officials maintained a noticeably smaller convoy during the Merta programme.
According to local administrative sources and political observers, the convoy included only a handful of vehicles, significantly fewer than the large fleets usually seen during visits by senior leaders. The arrangement was viewed as being aligned with the Prime Minister’s recent remarks encouraging citizens and government agencies to minimise unnecessary fuel usage and adopt practical conservation measures.
Observers also pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently demonstrated a similar approach by travelling with a limited convoy during another public programme, setting an example for administrative simplicity.
Leaders Visit Temple Before Public Programme
Rajnath Singh and Bhajanlal Sharma arrived at the Dangawas helipad in Merta around midday before proceeding together to the well-known Charbhuja Nath Temple. The leaders offered prayers and participated in religious rituals at the temple before attending the main public function.
Later in the programme, they unveiled a large statue of Rao Duda, who is widely remembered as the founder of Merta and a prominent historical figure associated with courage, leadership, and regional heritage.
Addressing the gathering, Rajnath Singh highlighted Rao Duda’s contribution to society and praised his legacy of bravery and public service. He also spoke about the importance of preserving cultural identity and drawing inspiration from historical figures who played key roles in shaping Rajasthan’s heritage.
Cultural Heritage Highlighted During Event
The event also focused on Rajasthan’s spiritual and cultural traditions. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma later shared details of the visit through a message posted on social media platform X.
In his statement, Sharma described Merta as an important symbol of folk traditions, spirituality, and historical pride. He noted that alongside the unveiling ceremony, he had the opportunity to witness a panorama dedicated to Meera Bai, the revered Krishna devotee and prominent figure in India’s devotional tradition.
The Chief Minister said the region continues to inspire future generations through its connection to patriotism, faith, and cultural values.
Further Events Scheduled in Jodhpur
Following the Merta programme, both leaders travelled to Jodhpur to participate in another scheduled public event. According to the official itinerary, a statue of former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was also expected to be unveiled near Ratanada Circle.
Political circles across Rajasthan continued discussing the leaders’ decision to travel together in one vehicle. Many viewed the move as a symbolic but visible attempt to promote disciplined use of government resources while reinforcing the broader message of fuel conservation and administrative efficiency.
The incident has also triggered wider conversations about whether similar measures could be adopted more frequently during official events to reduce expenditure, fuel use, and unnecessary logistical arrangements without affecting security requirements.
