Elections – Vijay Steps Up Campaign Push Across Key Tiruppur Constituencies
Elections – Actor-turned-politician Vijay is preparing to ramp up his election efforts with an extensive campaign tour across Tiruppur on Tuesday evening. The outreach drive is aimed at strengthening support for candidates representing his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), across several crucial Assembly segments.

Campaign Focus on Eight Constituencies
According to information shared by party insiders, the campaign will cover eight prominent constituencies in the region. These include Tiruppur North, Tiruppur South, Avinashi, Palladam, Kangayam, Dharapuram, Udumalpet, and Madathukulam. The initiative is part of a broader effort to consolidate voter backing ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
The campaign is expected to be energetic and highly visible, with Vijay directly engaging with the public and party workers throughout the route. Party leaders believe this outreach will play a significant role in mobilising grassroots support and energising local cadres.
Travel Plans and Campaign Route
Vijay is scheduled to leave Chennai by air and reach Coimbatore earlier in the day. From there, he will travel by road to Avinashi, which will serve as the starting point of his campaign activities.
The main roadshow is expected to begin around 3 p.m. from the Attayampalayam division. Standing on a specially designed campaign vehicle, Vijay will move through key locations in Avinashi. The route includes both the old and new bus stand areas, where he is likely to address the public and seek support for his party’s candidates.
Roadshow Extends to Key Areas
Following the initial leg of the roadshow, the campaign convoy will proceed along the national highway towards Perumanallur. The journey will then continue to Pooluvapatti, covering busy residential zones and commercial pockets along the way.
During this stretch, Vijay is expected to interact directly with supporters and local residents. Party workers are preparing for large gatherings, anticipating strong public participation throughout the route. The campaign aims not only to attract attention but also to build momentum in favour of TVK candidates in these constituencies.
Security Measures and Permissions
Authorities have permitted the campaign within a fixed time window from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., subject to certain conditions. These guidelines are intended to ensure public safety and maintain order during the event.
Given the expectation of significant crowds, police have put in place extensive security arrangements across Avinashi, Perumanallur, Pooluvapatti, and nearby areas. Senior officers will be overseeing the arrangements to prevent any disruptions and to manage the movement of people effectively.
Dharmapuri Programme Cancelled
In an unexpected turn, TVK announced that Vijay’s planned campaign appearance in Dharmapuri later the same day has been cancelled. The decision came despite the programme having already received approval from the Election Commission.
The sudden cancellation has caused confusion among party workers and supporters, as no official explanation has been provided so far. Party sources have remained silent on the reasons behind the change in schedule.
High Expectations Around Campaign
Vijay’s campaign activities have been drawing considerable attention in recent weeks, with large crowds attending his appearances. The Tiruppur outreach is expected to further intensify the political atmosphere as parties step up their efforts ahead of the elections.
With multiple constituencies being covered in a single day and strong public anticipation surrounding his visit, the campaign is likely to play an important role in shaping voter sentiment in the region.
