Elections – BJP Leaders Renew Call for Political Shift in Bengal
Elections – The political climate in West Bengal intensified on Sunday as senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party reiterated their demand for a change in the state’s leadership, placing development and infrastructure at the center of their campaign narrative.

Adhikari Highlights Central Projects in Bengal
Speaking to reporters, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari underlined what he described as the significant contribution of the central government to West Bengal’s growth in recent months. He pointed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s multiple visits to the state, noting that several infrastructure projects had been inaugurated and foundation stones laid during those trips.
According to Adhikari, these initiatives have benefited large sections of the population. He claimed that development efforts backed by the Union government have delivered tangible outcomes in sectors such as transport and public services. At the same time, he criticized the state administration, alleging that delays in providing land for projects approved by the Railway Board were hindering further progress.
Adhikari argued that a political shift would accelerate stalled projects. He maintained that if the BJP forms the government in West Bengal, it would facilitate land allocation for railway expansion and ensure the smooth implementation of infrastructure schemes.
Assembly Elections Seen as Crucial Moment
With the West Bengal Assembly elections expected in the first half of the year, Adhikari framed the polls as a decisive opportunity for voters. Addressing the electorate, he said the upcoming contest would determine whether the state continues under its current leadership or opts for a different direction.
He expressed confidence that voters would consider development issues while casting their ballots. As a BJP legislator, Adhikari pledged that his party would prioritize completing pending projects and strengthening cooperation with the central government to enhance economic growth in the state.
The BJP has been positioning itself as an alternative to the ruling Trinamool Congress, arguing that closer coordination between state and central authorities could unlock further investment and infrastructure expansion.
Giriraj Singh Calls for Unity Ahead of Polls
Earlier in the day, Union Minister Giriraj Singh also commented on the political stakes of the upcoming election. He urged unity among Hindus in India and abroad, stating that the Bengal election would carry significant importance.
Singh described the Assembly contest as a critical battle for his party and its supporters. His remarks added to the charged political atmosphere as campaigning gathers pace across the state.
Political Campaigns Gain Momentum
As election preparations advance, political parties are intensifying outreach efforts across districts. Development projects, infrastructure expansion, and governance remain key talking points in public meetings and media interactions.
West Bengal has witnessed heightened political competition over the past several years, with the BJP expanding its footprint in the state. The Trinamool Congress, which currently governs West Bengal, continues to defend its record and counter the opposition’s criticism.
With polling expected in the coming months, campaign rhetoric is likely to sharpen further. Voters will ultimately decide whether the state’s political leadership changes or remains the same.
The election outcome is expected to influence not only state policies but also the broader political balance in eastern India, making West Bengal a closely watched battleground in the national political landscape.
