Strong Mandate for UDF Alliance

Senior Congress figures on Monday expressed satisfaction over the early trends, which indicate a commanding lead for the UDF across the state. Party representatives described the outcome as more than just an electoral win, calling it a strong public mandate that reflects confidence in the alliance’s collective leadership.

Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi congratulated party workers and voters, emphasizing that the margin of victory underscores widespread public support. He noted that the alliance is expected to secure a significant number of seats, pointing to what he described as a “clear and convincing” result.

Leadership and Strategy Credited for Success

Party leaders attributed the performance to coordinated efforts at both the national and grassroots levels. Pratapgarhi highlighted the role of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in maintaining cohesion within the party, while also acknowledging the strategic direction provided by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.

He further praised the organizational work carried out by senior leader K. C. Venugopal, particularly in mobilizing support on the ground. According to him, the combined efforts of leadership and cadre played a crucial role in shaping the outcome.

Prospect of New Congress Government

With the UDF leading comfortably, Congress leaders expressed optimism about forming the next government in Kerala. Pratapgarhi pointed out that the result would add another state under Congress leadership, calling it an encouraging development for the party at the national level.

Having served as an observer during the campaign, he described the verdict as especially satisfying, citing the extensive engagement with voters during the election period.

Criticism of BJP’s Role in Southern States

Alongside celebrating the results, some Congress leaders also took aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), arguing that the party has struggled to establish a meaningful presence in southern India.

Mettu Sai Kumar, chairman of the Telangana Fishermen Cooperative Federation Limited, claimed that despite its efforts, the BJP has not managed to gain lasting political relevance in the region. He alleged that the party relied on administrative interventions during elections in other states, though such claims remain part of ongoing political debates.

Focus on Kerala Outcome

All India Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba stated that the party’s immediate focus remains on Kerala, where the alliance’s performance marks a significant turnaround. She noted that while Congress did not secure governments in other recent state elections, the situation in Kerala demonstrates renewed momentum.

Gratitude from State Leadership

Kerala Congress President Sunny Joseph thanked voters and party workers for their support. He also acknowledged the contribution of the All India Congress Committee and local leadership, describing the result as a decisive endorsement of the alliance.

Joseph compared the outcome to the UDF’s strong showing in recent local body elections, suggesting that the trend reflects consistent voter confidence.

The Kerala Assembly election results, once finalized, are expected to shape political narratives both within the state and at the national level, particularly for opposition parties seeking to consolidate their position.
