EducationReform – Student Group Presses PM for Compensation and Accountability
EducationReform – Families affected by student suicides linked to examination-related controversies should receive financial assistance, according to a fresh appeal made to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke. The request comes just ahead of a planned student gathering at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, where participants are expected to raise concerns about examination management and accountability within the education system.

Demand for Financial Relief
In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister on Friday, Dipke urged the Union government to provide compensation of Rs 1 crore to families of students who allegedly lost their lives amid stress and uncertainty connected to recent examination disputes. He argued that many affected households had invested heavily in their children’s education, often through loans and years of financial sacrifice.
According to Dipke, the emotional and economic burden on these families has become overwhelming after the loss of their children. He stated that immediate support from the government would help provide some relief to those facing severe hardship.
Concerns Over Student Mental Health
The CJP founder highlighted what he described as a growing mental health crisis among students. He claimed that reports of student suicides have increased in recent weeks, with anxiety being driven by concerns over examination irregularities and the possibility of re-examinations.
Dipke emphasized that uncertainty surrounding academic assessments has created significant pressure on students preparing for competitive examinations. He called on authorities to place greater focus on student well-being and implement measures aimed at reducing academic stress.
Renewed Call for Ministerial Accountability
Alongside the compensation demand, Dipke once again sought the removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. He stated that students across the country are seeking accountability from officials responsible for overseeing the education sector.
According to him, holding senior leadership accountable would help rebuild trust among students and parents who have been affected by ongoing controversies related to examinations and recruitment tests. He argued that visible action from the government would demonstrate a commitment to addressing public concerns.
Protest Planned at Jantar Mantar
The appeal precedes a major protest scheduled for June 20 at Jantar Mantar. The youth-led organisation plans to intensify its campaign against alleged examination irregularities and paper leak controversies that have generated widespread debate in recent months.
Dipke said students from different parts of the country are expected to participate in the demonstration. The gathering aims to draw attention to demands for educational reforms, greater transparency in examinations, and stronger safeguards for students.
Expanding Nationwide Campaign
The upcoming protest will be the second major mobilisation organised by CJP at Jantar Mantar this month. Earlier, on June 6, a large number of students and young professionals assembled at the venue to express concerns over alleged flaws in examination and recruitment processes.
Since that event, the organisation has expanded its outreach to several cities across India. Campaign activities have largely focused on examination-related controversies, allegations of paper leaks, and demands for institutional accountability. The resignation of the education minister continues to remain one of the group’s central demands as it seeks broader reforms within the country’s education framework.
As the June 20 demonstration approaches, the issue of student welfare, examination integrity, and accountability is expected to remain at the center of public discussion.
