EducationProtest – Students Rally in Delhi Over Exam Transparency Concerns

EducationProtest –  Exam Accountability and Student Rights Movement – Hundreds of students and young citizens gathered at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday to participate in a demonstration organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth-led platform seeking accountability over alleged irregularities in several national-level examinations. The gathering focused primarily on demands related to the NEET-UG paper leak controversy and calls for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The protest drew large participation from school students, college attendees, and young professionals. Many participants arrived wearing symbolic cockroach-themed masks, while others carried flowers, books, and the national flag. Parents accompanied several school-going students who joined the event in support of examination reforms and greater transparency in the education system.

CJP Founder Addresses Supporters

Speaking to supporters at the venue, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke criticized the government’s response to the movement. He alleged that instead of addressing concerns raised by students regarding examination processes, attention had been directed toward restricting the group’s online activities.

Dipke stated that the campaign had been demanding accountability for several weeks and emphasized that public support for the movement continued to grow. Referring to his arrival in India from the United States earlier in the day, he said he had been prepared to face personal consequences in pursuit of what he described as a larger cause connected to students’ interests.

Appeal to Students and Youth

During his address, Dipke said that despite various pressures, students and young people across the country remained committed to raising their voices on issues affecting education. He also criticized the role of divisive political narratives in public discourse, arguing that employment and educational opportunities should remain central concerns for the country’s youth.

Supporters responded with slogans demanding reforms and calling for greater accountability in the examination system. The atmosphere at the venue remained energetic, with participants expressing concerns about the future of competitive examinations.

Peaceful Demonstration Encouraged

Before reaching the protest site, Dipke shared a message on social media encouraging supporters to maintain a peaceful approach. He urged participants to carry books and the national flag while showing respect toward police personnel by offering flowers as a symbol of gratitude and goodwill.

Initially, supporters had been advised to gather at Parliament Street Police Station to seek permission collectively. However, organizers later informed participants that Delhi Police had approved the demonstration at Jantar Mantar, allowing attendees to proceed directly to the designated location.

Extensive Security Measures Across Delhi

Authorities implemented extensive security arrangements ahead of the gathering. Police personnel were deployed at multiple locations across the national capital, including Indira Gandhi International Airport, major railway stations, interstate bus terminals, and border entry points.

Sources indicated that around 40 companies of paramilitary personnel were positioned to assist Delhi Police in maintaining law and order. Senior officers from various police units were assigned supervisory responsibilities to oversee security operations and ensure smooth crowd management.

In Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city, additional police presence was also arranged near Dipke’s residence as a precautionary measure to prevent overcrowding and maintain public order.

Growing Online Movement Gains Attention

The Cockroach Janta Party emerged as a digital campaign following concerns surrounding the NEET-UG examination controversy. Over time, it has attracted considerable support among students and young people through social media platforms.

The organization has expanded its focus to include concerns related to examinations such as NEET, CBSE, CUET, and SSC. The Jantar Mantar demonstration marked one of its most significant public mobilizations so far.

Environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk also voiced support for the movement and stated that he would undertake a six-week fast if Dipke were detained.

Authorities Continue Monitoring Situation

Officials said more than 1,000 police personnel had been identified for deployment across sensitive areas in New Delhi and other strategic locations. Multiple barricades were installed, vehicle checks were intensified, and reserve forces remained on standby to address any unexpected developments.

Law enforcement agencies continued monitoring social media activity linked to the gathering while coordinating with transportation services to assess movement patterns. Officials maintained that security arrangements were sufficient and that public services, including metro operations, were functioning normally.

The Delhi High Court on Friday declined an urgent hearing on a petition that raised concerns regarding potential law-and-order issues related to the demonstration.
