EducationNews – Thousands of students faced delays and technical difficulties on Tuesday after the Central Board of Secondary Education opened the application window for Class 12 answer-sheet verification and re-evaluation for the 2026 board examinations.
Many students across the country reported problems while trying to access the CBSE online portal, with complaints ranging from slow-loading pages to repeated login failures. The situation created additional stress for candidates already dealing with ongoing college admission procedures and rising cut-off expectations.
Students Report Long Delays on Portal
Several applicants said they spent hours attempting to complete what was expected to be a straightforward online process. According to students, the website frequently became unresponsive during key stages of the application procedure.
Some candidates experienced delays while receiving one-time passwords (OTPs), while others said captcha verification and page transitions took unusually long to load. The technical disruptions led to repeated login attempts and incomplete submissions for many users.
Ishanvi Bagga, a Class 12 student from Mount Carmel School, said the process became exhausting due to constant interruptions on the website. She noted that even simple verification steps consumed far more time than expected because of the portal’s poor response.
Similar concerns were raised by Aarav Mehta, a student of Bal Bharati Public School, who said he began the process early in the morning expecting to finish quickly. However, repeated freezing of pages and slow server response prevented him from completing the application smoothly.
CBSE Announces Extension for Students
Following widespread complaints from students and parents, CBSE issued an official notification on Tuesday evening confirming an extension of the application deadline related to post-result services.
In its statement, the Board acknowledged technical difficulties affecting the online system used for post-verification facilities. To provide students with additional time, CBSE extended the last date for obtaining scanned copies of evaluated answer books from May 22 to May 23, 2026.
The Board said the extension was introduced to ensure that students are not disadvantaged because of the website-related issues experienced during the application process.
Pressure Increases Amid Admission Season
The portal disruption came at a crucial period for students preparing for undergraduate admissions at universities and colleges across the country. Many candidates are currently finalising applications while monitoring cut-off trends and entrance-related updates.
Because of this, delays in accessing re-evaluation services added further pressure to students who are seeking clarification or reassessment of their marks before admission deadlines approach.
Parents also expressed concern over the technical performance of the portal, saying such services should function smoothly during important academic processes that directly impact student futures.
Board Highlights Evaluation Reforms
The recent rush on the portal followed CBSE’s earlier notice regarding the post-result review system issued on May 17. In that communication, the Board reiterated its commitment to maintaining a transparent and student-focused evaluation process.
CBSE also referred to concerns raised this year regarding the evaluation mechanism and the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. The Board stated that it continues to work toward improving efficiency and fairness in the assessment process.
Alongside these measures, CBSE announced a significant reduction in the fee charged for obtaining scanned copies of answer sheets. The cost has been lowered from Rs 700 to Rs 100, making the process more affordable and accessible for students seeking verification of their evaluated papers.
The reduction in fees was welcomed by students and parents, many of whom viewed it as a positive step toward increasing transparency in the examination system.
