Education Results – CBSE Class 12 Pass Percentage Declines This Year
Education Results – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the Class 12 board examination results on Wednesday, revealing a slight drop in the overall pass percentage compared to the previous academic year.
More than 85 per cent of students who appeared for the examination successfully cleared it this year. However, the overall success rate witnessed a decline of over three percentage points when compared with last year’s results, according to officials.
High Scorers Cross Significant Milestones
CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj stated that a large number of students achieved outstanding scores in the Class 12 examinations. More than 94,000 candidates secured marks above 90 per cent, reflecting strong academic performance among top-ranking students across different streams.
In addition, over 17,000 students scored above 95 per cent marks, indicating that many candidates continued to perform exceptionally well despite the slight dip in the overall pass rate.
Increase Recorded in Compartment Category
The board also reported a noticeable rise in the number of students placed under the compartment category this year. According to officials, more than 1.63 lakh students will have to appear for compartment examinations after failing to clear one or more subjects.
The percentage of students falling into this category increased by nearly two percentage points compared to the previous year, highlighting a tougher outcome for a section of candidates.
Girls Continue to Outperform Boys
As seen in previous years, girls once again recorded a better overall performance than boys in the Class 12 board examinations. The pass percentage among girl students crossed 88 per cent, while boys registered a pass percentage of around 82 per cent.
The gap in performance between girls and boys remained visible in this year’s results as well, continuing a trend observed in several past CBSE examinations.

The declaration of the Class 12 results brought relief and excitement to lakhs of students and parents waiting for the outcome. Students can now access their marks through the official CBSE result platforms and begin preparations for university admissions and future academic plans.
Education experts believe the results will play a crucial role in shaping admission trends for undergraduate courses across colleges and universities in the coming months.
