New Programmes Target Emerging Career Paths

University officials confirmed that the newly approved courses will span both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These programmes are designed to equip students with skills suited for modern professions, including rapidly expanding sectors such as artificial intelligence, design, and infrastructure development.

Vice-Chancellor Prof B Jayaramireddy stated that the additions are aligned with current market trends and aim to prepare graduates for a competitive job landscape. By introducing interdisciplinary learning opportunities, the university hopes to bridge the gap between academic training and industry expectations.

Expansion in Fine Arts Education

At the College of Fine Arts, two new programmes will be introduced. An undergraduate course in Fashion and Apparel Design will offer 60 seats, providing students with training in design techniques, textiles, and fashion trends. Alongside this, a postgraduate programme in Fine Art with a specialization in Sculpture will be launched with an intake capacity of 24 students.

These courses are expected to nurture artistic talent while also preparing students for professional roles in the creative industries, including fashion houses, design studios, and independent artistic practice.

Focus on Technology and Engineering Disciplines

The College of Planning and Architecture will also see significant additions. Two undergraduate programmes—Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Civil Engineering—will each admit 60 students. In addition, a postgraduate programme in Artificial Intelligence will be introduced with 24 seats.

These offerings reflect a strong emphasis on technology-driven education. Artificial intelligence and machine learning, in particular, have become central to industries such as software development, data analysis, and automation. Civil engineering continues to be a key discipline supporting infrastructure growth, especially in rapidly developing regions.

Industry-Relevant Skills and Career Opportunities

University authorities highlighted that the new programmes are structured to improve employability. Graduates are expected to find opportunities across a wide range of sectors, including fashion design, gaming, software engineering, construction, and urban planning.

The inclusion of both creative and technical disciplines is seen as a strategic approach to meet the needs of industries that increasingly value cross-functional expertise. For instance, professionals who understand both design and technology are in demand in areas such as digital media, user experience design, and smart infrastructure development.

Strengthening Institutional Profile

With the addition of these courses, Dr YSR Architecture and Fine Arts University aims to reinforce its reputation as a leading centre for education in design, architecture, and emerging technologies. The university believes that diversifying its academic portfolio will attract a broader range of students and contribute to academic excellence.

Officials noted that the expansion also reflects a long-term vision to position the institution at the intersection of creativity and innovation. By integrating traditional disciplines like fine arts with modern fields such as artificial intelligence, the university is working to remain relevant in a changing educational landscape.

The introduction of these programmes marks a significant step in aligning academic offerings with future workforce requirements, ensuring that students are better prepared for both creative and technical careers.
