DUSU Elections – Delhi University has officially launched the process for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections for the 2026-27 academic session by appointing key officials to oversee the electoral exercise. The move signals the start of preparations for the annual student body elections, which are expected to take place in September.
The university has named senior academic Raj Kishore Sharma from the Department of Chemistry as the Chief Election Officer (CEO), while University Librarian Rajesh Singh has been appointed as the Chief Returning Officer (CRO). The appointments were announced through an official notification issued by the university administration.
Key Appointments Announced
According to the notification, the appointments were approved by the Vice-Chancellor in his role as the Patron of the Delhi University Students’ Union, exercising powers granted under Clause 16 of the DUSU Constitution. The order also clarified that both appointments have taken effect immediately and will remain valid until any further directions are issued by the university authorities.
With these appointments in place, the university has formally initiated the administrative framework required for conducting the student union elections for the upcoming academic year.
Election Preparations Underway

These officials will supervise the conduct of elections for office-bearers and members of the DUSU Central Council within their respective colleges and institutions during the 2026-27 academic session.
The notification, issued under the authority of the Registrar, outlines the responsibilities of these officials in ensuring that elections are conducted in accordance with the university’s established procedures and constitutional provisions.
Major Student Organisations Expected to Contest
The Delhi University Students’ Union elections traditionally witness participation from several major student groups. Among the organisations expected to contest this year’s polls are the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), and the All India Students’ Association (AISA).
