DomesticViolence – Chhattisgarh Woman Allegedly Assaulted and Humiliated by Estranged Husband

DomesticViolence –  A disturbing case of alleged domestic abuse has surfaced from Chhattisgarh’s Korea district, where a woman claimed she was physically attacked, publicly humiliated, and had her hair forcibly cut by her estranged husband. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.

Chhattisgarh woman assaulted by estranged husband

A 32-year-old woman from Pandopara village, located in the northern part of Korea district, reported that she was subjected to severe violence by her husband, from whom she has been living separately. According to the complaint, the accused not only assaulted her but also recorded a video during the incident.

Woman Living Away After Marital Separation

The victim, identified as Tara Bai, had been married to Jitendra Ghasia for more than 15 years. The couple has four children, who are currently staying with their father.

Police sources said the woman had been facing financial hardship after her husband allegedly abandoned her about a year ago. Due to her circumstances, she had been residing at the home of a person known to both families and belonging to the same community.

Alleged Assault Took Place Outside Residence

According to the woman’s statement, the accused allegedly approached her near the residence where she had been staying and persuaded her to come outside. Once outside, he reportedly began verbally abusing her using offensive language and allegedly threatened her with serious consequences.

The confrontation soon turned violent, the victim alleged. She told investigators that her husband repeatedly struck her with punches and kicks, causing physical injuries and fear.

Hair Reportedly Cut During Attack

The woman further claimed that during the assault, the accused took out a pair of scissors and a blade and forcibly cut off her hair. The act, she said, was intended to humiliate and intimidate her.

Authorities are also examining claims that the accused recorded the incident on video. Investigators believe the footage may play an important role in establishing the sequence of events and supporting witness accounts.

Police Begin Investigation

Following the complaint, local police promptly registered a criminal case against the accused and started collecting evidence. Officers have begun recording statements from people who were reportedly present during the incident.

A police official said investigators are reviewing all available material, including the video related to the case. Authorities stated that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and evidence gathered during the inquiry.

Charges Filed Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita

Police have booked the accused under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The charges include Section 85 relating to cruelty by a husband or his relatives, Section 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 296 concerning obscene acts and public nuisance, and Section 351(2) dealing with criminal intimidation.

Officials said the investigation remains ongoing, and further action will depend on the outcome of witness testimonies and evidence verification. The case has drawn attention to concerns surrounding domestic violence and the protection of women facing abuse within family relationships
