Disaster – Eight More Victims of Qatar Industrial Accident Returned to India
Disaster – The mortal remains of the remaining eight Indian nationals who lost their lives in the industrial accident at Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar have been brought back to India, completing the repatriation of all 12 victims. The Indian Embassy in Doha confirmed the development on Saturday and expressed gratitude to the authorities and organizations involved in the operation.

Embassy Confirms Completion of Repatriation
According to the Indian Embassy, the final group of eight deceased Indian workers was repatriated on June 26. This followed the return of four victims on June 25, ensuring that all families would be able to perform the last rites in their home country. The embassy acknowledged the cooperation extended by the Qatari authorities, Indian government agencies, and community organizations throughout the process.
In a message shared on social media, the embassy thanked all stakeholders for their timely coordination and assistance, noting that the repatriation was completed smoothly with support from multiple agencies in both Qatar and India.
Injured Workers Continue to Receive Medical Care
Alongside overseeing the repatriation efforts, Indian Ambassador and embassy officials also met several injured Indian nationals receiving treatment in Al Khor. The embassy said the injured workers have been provided appropriate medical care and appreciated both the Qatari authorities and representatives of the employer company for ensuring necessary treatment.
Officials indicated that the welfare of the injured remains a priority and that the embassy continues to stay in contact with them during their recovery.
Embassy Maintained Contact With Families
When the first four bodies were flown back to India on June 25, the embassy had stated that it was working closely with the victims’ families while coordinating with local authorities to complete all required formalities. Regular updates were shared with relatives to keep them informed about the repatriation process.
The embassy also confirmed that it remained in communication with Indians injured in the accident and continued to monitor their condition while extending all possible assistance.
Ras Laffan Accident Claimed Twelve Indian Lives
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday night at Ras Laffan Industrial City, one of Qatar’s major industrial hubs. The accident resulted in the deaths of 12 Indian workers, prompting immediate response efforts by local authorities and the Indian diplomatic mission.
The tragedy drew attention in both India and Qatar, with officials from both countries coordinating closely to assist affected families and ensure the safe return of the victims.
Qatar Emir Expresses Condolences to Prime Minister Modi
Earlier in the week, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a telephone call from Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who conveyed his condolences over the loss of Indian lives in the accident.
According to the Ministry, the Qatari leader expressed deep sorrow for the victims and reaffirmed the strong relationship between India and Qatar during the conversation. The exchange reflected the continued cooperation between the two countries in responding to the tragedy and supporting the affected families.
