During her visit to the national memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, Rodriguez honored the leader whose principles of peace, dialogue, and cooperation continue to resonate globally. India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted that Gandhi’s ideals remain an important source of inspiration in strengthening the partnership between India and Venezuela.

The gesture formed a significant part of Rodriguez’s official visit, emphasizing the mutual respect and historical goodwill shared by the two nations.

High-Level Talks Held in New Delhi

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Rodriguez in New Delhi for extensive discussions covering bilateral relations as well as key regional and international developments. The meeting focused on identifying new opportunities for cooperation and enhancing existing areas of engagement.

Senior officials, including External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, were present during the talks. Discussions addressed a broad range of sectors where both countries see potential for deeper collaboration.

According to the MEA, the leaders reviewed the full scope of bilateral relations and explored possibilities for expanding cooperation in areas such as energy, trade, investment, healthcare, and the automobile industry.

A major theme of the meeting was the commitment of both nations to support the interests of the Global South. India and Venezuela exchanged views on international and regional issues while reaffirming their intention to work together on matters affecting developing nations.

The leaders emphasized the importance of cooperation among emerging economies and reiterated their dedication to strengthening diplomatic coordination on issues of common concern.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also met Rodriguez during her stay in New Delhi. Following the interaction, he acknowledged her continued efforts to promote stronger relations between India and Venezuela.

He stated that the discussions held during her visit, including the meeting with Prime Minister Modi, would contribute to expanding cooperation and reinforcing the long-standing partnership shared by the two countries.

Rodriguez arrived in India on Wednesday for a five-day official visit intended to further advance bilateral ties. As part of the program, the Venezuelan delegation is scheduled to visit facilities linked to India’s energy, pharmaceutical, and automotive industries.

The visits are expected to provide insights into India’s industrial capabilities, technological advancements, and potential areas for future collaboration.
