Diplomacy – Modi’s Multi-Nation Tour Focuses on Energy and Strategic Ties
Diplomacy – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to begin a high-level diplomatic tour covering five countries, with the United Arab Emirates marking the first stop of the visit. The trip is aimed at strengthening India’s global partnerships, expanding trade opportunities, and deepening cooperation in critical sectors including energy security and investment.

Prime Minister Modi will arrive in the United Arab Emirates on Friday for official discussions intended to reinforce the growing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi. During the visit, he is scheduled to hold talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on a wide range of bilateral and regional issues.
Focus on Energy and Economic Cooperation
Energy collaboration is expected to remain one of the central themes of the meetings. According to official sources, India and the UAE are likely to finalize two important agreements related to liquefied petroleum gas and strategic petroleum reserves. These agreements are expected to support India’s long-term energy security plans while also enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Ministry of External Affairs said the leaders will discuss ways to further strengthen political relations, economic engagement, cultural ties, and people-to-people connections. Officials also noted that trade and investment discussions will play a significant role during the visit as both countries continue to expand their commercial partnership.
The UAE currently stands as India’s third-largest trading partner and remains one of the leading foreign investors in the country. Over the last 25 years, the Gulf nation has emerged as an important source of investment across several sectors in India.
Welfare of Indian Community on Agenda
Another major aspect of the visit will involve discussions related to the Indian diaspora living in the UAE. More than 4.5 million Indians reside and work in the country, making it one of the largest overseas Indian communities globally. Officials said issues connected to their welfare and opportunities are also expected to be reviewed during the bilateral meetings.
The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that the strong relationship between India and the UAE has grown steadily through sustained political engagement and economic cooperation over recent years.
Netherlands Visit to Strengthen European Engagement
Following the UAE leg of the tour, the Prime Minister will travel to the Netherlands. This will be his second official visit to the European nation since 2017. During his stay, PM Modi is expected to meet King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima and hold discussions with Prime Minister Rob Jetten.
The meetings are expected to focus on bilateral cooperation in sectors such as trade, technology, water management, and sustainable development. Officials believe the visit will help further strengthen India’s strategic engagement with European partners.
Sweden Talks to Boost Trade and Innovation
The Prime Minister will then head to Gothenburg in Sweden for talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The two leaders are expected to review the full scope of India-Sweden relations and identify new opportunities to expand business and technological cooperation.
Both leaders are also scheduled to participate in the European Round Table for Industry alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The forum brings together leading business figures from across Europe and is considered an important platform for industrial and investment discussions.
India-Nordic Summit in Norway
In the next phase of the diplomatic tour, PM Modi will travel to Norway to attend the third India-Nordic Summit. The summit is expected to focus on collaboration in areas such as clean energy, climate action, innovation, and maritime cooperation.
Apart from the summit engagements, bilateral meetings with Nordic leaders are also likely during the Norway visit.
Italy Visit to Conclude Diplomatic Tour
The final stop of the Prime Minister’s overseas tour will be Italy. During the visit, he will meet President Sergio Mattarella and hold talks with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Discussions are expected to include strategic cooperation, trade expansion, and global geopolitical developments.
The multi-country visit is being viewed as part of India’s broader effort to strengthen international partnerships and enhance economic and strategic cooperation across key regions.
