Diljit Dosanjh – Singer Declines Link to Jantar Mantar Protest

Diljit Dosanjh – Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh has said he does not want to be associated with the ongoing protest being held by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Addressing viewers during an Instagram Live session on Wednesday evening, Dosanjh made it clear that he sees himself as an entertainer and has no plans to enter political debates.

Artist Responds to Questions During Live Session

The issue came up when a viewer asked whether he intended to support or join the CJP demonstration, which is focused on alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and the NEET paper-leak matter. Dosanjh responded by asking people not to involve him in political discussions.

He said he was an artist rather than a politician and added that he did not know why people expected him to take a position on such matters. His comments reflected his longstanding view that public issues should not automatically be linked to celebrities.

Spiritual Reference in His Remarks

During the interaction, Dosanjh referred to a verse from the Guru Granth Sahib about the widespread suffering people experience in life and the peace found through faith. He used the reference while explaining that it is difficult for every situation in the world to be completely right or satisfactory.

The singer also offered general goodwill to both those participating in the protest and those affected by its demands. However, he stressed that he did not have detailed knowledge of the issues being raised and did not wish to comment further.

CJP Protest Continues at Jantar Mantar

The CJP has been staging its protest at Jantar Mantar since June 20. The group has called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper-leak controversy and concerns related to the conduct of examinations.

The organisation was founded by Abhijeet Dipke and has indicated that its campaign may cover matters beyond education. According to the group, it also plans to raise wider questions of accountability, including issues connected with electoral processes and the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

Dosanjh Maintains Distance From Electoral Politics

This is not the first time Dosanjh has clarified his position on politics. Although he voiced support for farmers during the 2020 farmers’ protest, he has repeatedly said that he does not intend to pursue a political career.

Earlier this year, he posted on X that his work was to entertain audiences and that he was content in his profession. His latest comments again underline that he prefers to focus on music, films and live performances rather than political participation.

The response comes as public figures continue to face questions about their views on major national controversies. Dosanjh’s statement, however, leaves little room for speculation about his involvement in the CJP protest or any political movement linked to the NEET examination issue.
