DelhiPolitics – The political row surrounding a high-profile government residence in Delhi has intensified after a senior minister released a detailed video presentation, claiming to reveal facts about the property and its construction.

Delhi Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma on Thursday escalated his criticism of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by publishing a video walkthrough of the residence located at 6 Flagstaff Road. The video, titled as a narrative account of the controversy, aims to present what the minister described as a factual depiction of the property’s features and associated expenditure.

Walkthrough Highlights Lavish Interior Features

During his on-site visit, Verma documented the entire bungalow, capturing visuals of its interiors, layout, and installations. According to him, the intention behind the exercise was to bring transparency to the issue and allow the public to see the details firsthand.

The footage showcases a residence fitted with high-end materials and modern automation systems. Several luxury elements were highlighted, including an expensive modular kitchen estimated at around Rs 1.5 crore and a premium chimney valued at approximately Rs 5 lakh. Decorative elements such as chandeliers reportedly costing up to Rs 88 lakh and curtains nearing Rs 95 lakh were also pointed out.

In addition, the property features advanced entertainment units, with television installations said to cost up to Rs 28 lakh. Wellness facilities such as a jacuzzi and a sauna room were also included, with estimated costs of Rs 6 lakh and Rs 10 lakh respectively.

Extensive Use of Imported Materials and Automation

The minister further noted that the bungalow includes imported marble, designer furnishings, and automated systems integrated across multiple areas. From bedrooms to dressing spaces and even bathrooms, the residence appears to be equipped with modern amenities typically associated with luxury properties.

One of the key points raised during the visit was the number of air conditioning units installed across the premises. Verma claimed that nearly 50 units were present throughout the building. He also stated that the estimated monthly electricity expense could be around Rs 5 lakh, raising concerns about operational costs.

Questions Raised Over Public Spending

While addressing the media, Verma questioned whether such levels of expenditure align with the expectations of the public. He recalled earlier political commitments that emphasized simplicity and modest living standards for those in public office.

According to him, the visible scale of spending contradicts those earlier assurances. He argued that citizens deserve clarity on how public funds are being utilized, especially when such significant investments are involved in a single property.

Timing of Construction Under Scrutiny

Another aspect highlighted by the minister was the timeline of the bungalow’s development. He stated that several approvals and construction activities reportedly took place during the Covid-19 pandemic, a period when the city was dealing with serious health and infrastructure challenges.

Verma suggested that prioritizing such projects during a crisis raises important governance-related questions. He emphasized the need for accountability in decision-making, particularly during emergencies.

Comparison With City Infrastructure Needs

Drawing attention to broader civic concerns, the minister compared the bungalow’s expenditure with conditions in several parts of Delhi. He mentioned areas such as Sangam Vihar, Nangloi, and Jahangirpuri, where residents continue to face shortages in basic infrastructure.

He argued that the contrast between these ground realities and the scale of investment in the residence highlights a gap in priorities. According to him, public resources should be directed toward essential services and development needs across the city.

The issue has now become a focal point in the ongoing political discourse, with demands for greater transparency and accountability expected to continue in the coming days
