The University of Delhi released the first undergraduate seat allocation list on Thursday under its Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). Although the university had informed students that allocation details would become available at 5:00 pm, many candidates were unable to check their results due to persistent technical issues. Even several hours after the scheduled release, the online portal continued displaying error messages, preventing applicants from viewing their allotted colleges and courses.

Technical Issues Affect Student Access

The unexpected disruption quickly became the main concern for students awaiting their admission status. Many candidates repeatedly attempted to log in but encountered blank pages, server failures, or dashboards that failed to load. As the delay continued into the evening, frustration grew among applicants who had been waiting for updates since the announced release time.

Several students also turned to social media platforms to highlight the issue. One applicant shared that despite waiting for hours with the admission portal open, the system continued showing a message indicating that the information would be updated soon, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the allocation process.

University Shares Allocation Statistics

Despite the portal problems, Delhi University released detailed figures explaining the outcome of the first allocation round. According to the official data, seats have been offered to 93,033 candidates across 221 undergraduate programmes available in 67 affiliated colleges. These allocations span 1,393 different programme and college combinations.

The university stated that the overall allocation rate has reached approximately 86.1 percent. Out of 2,18,284 registered applicants, 2,08,043 candidates successfully completed both Phase I and Phase II of the admission procedure. During the preference-filling process, students collectively submitted more than 1.59 crore unique programme and college preferences, reflecting the scale of this year’s admission exercise.

Category-Wise Seat Allocation

The institution also provided a breakdown of seat allocation across different reservation categories. The unreserved category recorded the highest allocation rate at 99.9 percent. It was followed by the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category with 96 percent, Scheduled Castes (SC) at 95.2 percent, and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) at 92.7 percent.

In comparison, the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category reported a lower allocation rate of 67.3 percent. Seats reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) saw the lowest allocation, with only 23 percent filled during this round.

Important Admission Deadlines Announced

The university has advised candidates who received seat allotments to accept their allocated seats no later than 11:59 pm on July 18. After the acceptance process is completed, students must wait for the payment link before submitting their admission fees within the prescribed schedule.

Applicants wishing to seek admission in a higher-preference programme have also been encouraged to use the upgrade option. The university has allowed candidates to reorder their higher preferences until July 21 as part of the ongoing admission process.

Updates on Postgraduate Admissions

Along with undergraduate admissions, Delhi University also shared progress regarding postgraduate and professional programmes. The third allocation round for two-year postgraduate courses has now concluded, including the first round for performance-based programmes such as Master of Fine Arts (MFA), Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd), Master of Physical Education (MPEd), and Music.

According to the university, 10,240 candidates have secured admission so far. Among them, 6,240 applicants have chosen to freeze their allotted seats, confirming their decision to retain the current allocation. Meanwhile, 2,153 candidates have opted for the upgrade facility in the hope of securing a preferred programme in subsequent rounds.

The university further stated that the recently introduced one-year postgraduate programme, launched under the National Education Policy (NEP) framework, has received encouraging participation. A total of 12,639 candidates have registered for this programme, which is available exclusively to Delhi University graduates who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree.
