Delhi Police – Woman Dies After Fire and Fall at Hari Nagar Home

Delhi Police –  A 23-year-old woman died after sustaining severe injuries in an incident at her home in Hari Nagar, west Delhi, on Wednesday. Police said the woman was reportedly on fire when she fell from the third floor of the residence. She was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Police Receive Emergency Call

According to a senior police officer, a PCR call was received on Wednesday about a woman falling from the third floor of a residential building while on fire. A police team was sent to the location immediately.

By the time officers arrived, the woman had already been taken to DDU Hospital for treatment. Police later identified her as Laxmi. The circumstances surrounding the incident are being examined as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Family Details Shared During Inquiry

During preliminary questioning, Laxmi’s father told investigators that she had married a man identified as Rajender and that the couple had a son. He said disagreements had developed in the marriage in 2023.

Police said Laxmi had subsequently been living with her father in Hari Nagar. Her family informed officers that she had recently been dealing with emotional stress, including worries connected to the care and custody of her child.

Recent Job Change Mentioned

The woman had been employed at a clothing shop in Uttam Nagar, according to the police. Her father told investigators that she had left the job around four or five days before the incident.

He said she appeared to have been under stress after leaving work. However, he did not make any allegation against any individual in connection with her death, police said.

Crime Team Examines Residence

A crime team visited the residence and examined the area where the incident took place. Police said relevant material was collected from the spot in accordance with standard procedure.

Investigators did not find a suicide note during the inspection. Officials have not announced any conclusion regarding the circumstances that led to the woman’s death.

Postmortem Examination Pending

Laxmi’s body has been preserved for a postmortem examination, which is expected to provide further details about the cause of death. Police said the investigation remains underway and further inquiry is being carried out.

Authorities have urged people facing severe emotional distress to seek support from family members, trusted friends, medical professionals, or local emergency services.
