Delhi Government- Approves Major Upgrade Plan for 75 CM SHRI Schools
Delhi Government- The Delhi government has approved a comprehensive plan to modernize 75 CM SHRI Schools across the capital, aiming to improve student safety, learning facilities, and overall campus infrastructure.

The Delhi government has cleared an ambitious infrastructure improvement project for 75 CM SHRI Schools with an estimated budget of Rs 265 crore. The initiative is designed to upgrade government school campuses through extensive renovation work while creating a safer and more comfortable environment for students and staff. The proposal received approval during the recent Expenditure Finance Committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Comprehensive Renovation Planned Across School Campuses
According to the government, the project will involve large-scale repair and modernization work in selected schools. One of the key features includes redesigning and upgrading school entrance gates with a contemporary appearance. Every entrance will prominently display the new CM SHRI branding along with the respective school’s name, giving campuses a more uniform and modern identity.
Officials believe that these improvements will not only enhance the visual appeal of schools but also contribute to creating a more welcoming atmosphere for students, parents, and visitors.
Focus on Structural Repairs and Student Facilities
A significant portion of the project will address long-standing structural issues in school buildings. Waterproofing measures will be carried out to prevent leakage, dampness, and seepage, while damaged plaster and worn-out surfaces will be repaired. Interior and exterior walls will receive fresh paint, helping extend the life of the buildings and improve the learning environment.
The plan also includes the construction and repair of boundary walls and fencing wherever necessary to strengthen campus security.
Better Amenities for Daily School Life
Alongside structural improvements, the government will upgrade essential facilities that directly impact students’ daily experience. Toilets and drinking water systems will be modernized to improve hygiene standards, while sewerage and drainage infrastructure will also be repaired or upgraded to ensure better sanitation across school premises.
Wherever required, sports facilities will be improved to encourage physical activities. Multipurpose halls are also scheduled for renovation, and rainwater harvesting systems will be repaired to support sustainable water management practices.
Electrical Systems and Fire Safety to Receive Attention
The modernization project extends to electrical infrastructure as well. Fire safety measures will be strengthened through necessary upgrades, while faulty LED lights, ceiling fans, exhaust fans, and public address systems will be replaced with new equipment. These improvements are expected to enhance safety standards while ensuring that classrooms remain functional and comfortable throughout the academic year.
Government officials say the upgraded electrical systems will help schools meet modern safety requirements and provide a better educational environment.
Government Aims for Long-Term Transformation
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the project is intended to bring a visible transformation to government school campuses across Delhi. By combining infrastructure repairs with modern facilities and improved safety measures, the initiative seeks to provide students with learning spaces that are cleaner, safer, and better equipped for future educational needs.
The large-scale renovation programme reflects the government’s broader effort to strengthen public education infrastructure and improve the quality of facilities available in government schools throughout the national capital.
