Cybercrime – Andhra Pradesh High Court to Hear Plea Over Seized Devices

Cybercrime – Anusha, the wife of YouTuber Bachalakura Joseph, who is also known as Prashna Ravan, has moved the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking multiple directions related to the ongoing police investigation against her husband. The petition, filed on Monday, primarily asks the court to order the return of electronic devices and important documents that were taken by investigators during the course of the inquiry. The matter is expected to be heard by the High Court in the coming days, with the police likely to present their response before the bench.

Andhra high court seized devices plea

Petition Seeks Return of Seized Materials

According to the petition, Anusha has requested that the electronic gadgets and documents confiscated from both her and her husband be handed back. She argues that these items were seized during the investigation being conducted by the Vijayawada Cyber Crime Cell in connection with the criminal case registered against Bachalakura Joseph. The plea asks the court to examine whether the continued retention of these materials is necessary while the investigation remains underway.

Request to Prevent Misuse of Online Content

Another significant request made before the High Court relates to content circulating on social media platforms. Anusha has urged the court to direct the Vijayawada Cyber Crime Cell to take appropriate measures to prevent the upload, sharing, or circulation of any morphed or obscene videos allegedly linked to her husband. The petition states that such content could cause further harm and seeks legal intervention to stop its spread while the case is under consideration.

Protection Sought for Family and Staff

In addition to seeking the return of seized property, Anusha has also requested protection for her family members and employees. The petition asks the court to restrain the police from initiating any coercive action against them during the ongoing investigation. According to the plea, these individuals should not face unnecessary legal pressure unless there are specific grounds supported by the investigation.

Senior Officials Named as Respondents

The petition names several senior government and police officials as respondents in the case. These include Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta, the Principal Secretary (Home), and the Superintendents of Police for Krishna and Kakinada districts. By making them parties to the petition, the petitioner has sought judicial directions that would be binding on the concerned authorities responsible for the investigation and related administrative actions.

High Court Expected to Examine Both Sides

The Andhra Pradesh High Court is expected to take up the matter for hearing shortly. During the proceedings, the court is likely to consider the submissions made by Anusha along with the response from the police authorities. The investigating agency is expected to explain the reasons behind the seizure of the electronic devices and documents, as well as respond to the requests for protection and restrictions on the circulation of alleged objectionable content.

The outcome of the hearing could determine the immediate course of action regarding the seized materials, the requested safeguards for the petitioner’s family, and any directions concerning online content linked to the ongoing investigation. Until the court delivers its decision, the case remains under judicial consideration.
