CulturalFestival – Artists From Across India Celebrate Unity at Ramban Event
CulturalFestival – A vibrant cultural programme under the Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat initiative brought together performers from different regions of the country in Ramban, showcasing the richness and diversity of India’s artistic traditions. The event attracted local residents, officials, and cultural enthusiasts who witnessed a series of folk music and dance performances representing various states.

National Initiative Promotes Cultural Exchange
The cultural gathering was organised by the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala, with support from the Union Ministry of Culture. The programme was conducted in partnership with the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) and the district administration of Ramban. The event formed part of a larger cultural journey aimed at strengthening connections between different regions of the country through art and heritage.
Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan attended the function as the chief guest. Senior officials from civil and police departments, along with a large number of residents, were also present during the celebrations.
Performances Highlight India’s Diverse Traditions
Artists representing several states presented traditional dances and musical performances that reflected the cultural identity of their respective regions. The audience witnessed colourful and energetic presentations from Manipur, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Odisha, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir.
Among the featured performances were Lairuhba from Manipur, Dandiya Raas from Gujarat, Gondhal from Maharashtra, Dogri Folk Dance from Jammu and Kashmir, Goti Pua from Odisha, Kalbelia from Rajasthan, and the popular Bhangra dance from Punjab. The event also included a performance by noted folk and Sufi singer Manak Ali, which received appreciation from attendees.
Officials Stress Importance of Cultural Preservation
Addressing the audience, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan praised the efforts of the organising institutions for creating a platform where different cultural traditions could be celebrated together. He noted that such programmes contribute to preserving India’s cultural heritage while encouraging greater understanding among people from different backgrounds.
He also emphasized the need to organise similar events in more locations so that a wider audience, especially young people, can experience and appreciate the country’s rich cultural legacy.
Cultural Journey Covers Multiple Destinations
Assistant Director of NZCC Patiala, Ravinder Sharma, said that festivals of this nature play an important role in encouraging cultural interaction and strengthening the spirit of national unity. According to him, these events also support values such as harmony, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence.
He informed the audience that nearly 250 artists are participating in the 20-day cultural tour, which commenced in Pathankot on June 13. Following programmes in Jammu and Ramban, the artists will continue their journey to Srinagar and Leh. They are scheduled to take part in the Sindhu Darshan National Festival on June 29 before concluding the tour in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. During the course of the journey, performances will be held at 15 different venues.
Participants and Residents Welcome the Initiative
Manipuri artist Chimgangbam Bisanta Meitei described the programme as a meaningful platform for cultural interaction and exchange. He said the initiative reflects the vision of Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat by bringing together artists from different parts of India. He also expressed appreciation for the hospitality provided to the participating performers.
Local resident Manzur Ahmed Wani welcomed the initiative and said the event offered people an opportunity to learn about traditions and customs from across the country. According to him, such programmes help deepen awareness of India’s cultural diversity while promoting greater appreciation of its shared heritage.
