Census Survey Underway Across Constituencies

District Collector and Principal Census Officer CM Sai Kanth Varma explained that the census operation is currently being conducted in two stages. The first phase, focused on house listing and housing-related information, began on May 1 and will continue until May 30 across all constituencies in the district.

During the survey, enumerators are gathering details related to households and living conditions. Information being collected includes the availability of LPG connections, electricity, electronic appliances, vehicles, internet facilities, mobile phone usage, and contact numbers. Authorities said the data will help the government understand living standards and infrastructure needs in different areas.

Officials Warn Against Sharing Sensitive Financial Information

Authorities have also cautioned citizens against fraud and misinformation linked to the census process. Officials made it clear that census staff will never ask residents to share confidential financial or identification details.

Enumerators are not authorised to request OTPs, Aadhaar numbers, PAN details, banking information, ATM credentials, UPI data, or passwords during the survey. Residents have been advised to verify the official identity cards of census workers before providing any information.

Officials said these precautions are necessary to prevent misuse of the ongoing survey by cyber fraudsters or individuals attempting to mislead the public.

Thousands of Enumerators Deployed in Guntur District

In Guntur district, authorities have established 3,806 enumeration blocks to carry out the large-scale exercise efficiently. Of these, 1,924 blocks are located in rural areas, while 1,882 fall under urban regions.

To complete the survey process, the administration has appointed 4,046 enumerators, including reserve personnel, along with 720 supervisors. Most of the workforce has been drawn from the SGSW department, while additional staff members belong to clerical cadres.

Officials said the deployment has been planned to ensure smooth data collection and proper monitoring throughout the census schedule.

Data Intended Only for Welfare and Development Planning

CM Sai Kanth Varma stressed that the information collected during Census 2027 will not be used for taxation, property verification, police inquiries, or the cancellation of welfare benefits. He clarified that the objective of the exercise is solely to help governments prepare accurate development policies and public welfare programmes.

According to officials, reliable census figures play a major role in planning sectors such as education, healthcare, housing, infrastructure, and social welfare schemes. Accurate population and housing data allow authorities to allocate resources more effectively and identify areas requiring additional support.

The district administration has appealed to residents to cooperate fully with enumerators and provide accurate information during the survey period. Officials believe public participation is essential for preparing long-term development plans and improving public services in both rural and urban regions.
