Bhopal Metro Inauguration: Today, a 7-kilometer stretch of the Orange Line will open; see the routes and stations
Bhopal Metro Inauguration: The Bhopal Metro service will be launched today (December 20) by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. At 5 p.m., the leaders will board the Orange Line train from the Subhash Metro Station.

The leaders will take a train from Subhash Metro Station to AIIMS after the inauguration.
Bhopal Metro: Specifics
There are now 30.8 kilometers of the Bhopal Metro project in the city. There are two corridors in the project: Orange and Blue.
The Orange Line is 14.16 kilometers long, while the Orange Line is 16.74 kilometers long. The capital of Madhya Pradesh will be connected by these two corridors to important commercial, industrial, and residential districts.
By offering a different way to go about the city, the metro services would lessen traffic congestion. By offering a smooth and speedy transit alternative, the services will also drastically reduce journey time.
For efficient service, the Bhopal Metro has two routes and one depot.
The Orange Line
A 7-kilometer priority section of the 16.74-kilometer Orange Line is currently scheduled for inauguration. There will be eight elevated stations along the priority route.
AIIMS, Alkapuri, DRM Office, Rani Kamalapati Station, MP Nagar, Board Office Square, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Subhash Nagar are the stations along the priority corridor.
Cost of the Bhopal Metro Project
The whole Bhopal Metro project is expected to cost Rs 10,033 crore. The cost of the seven-kilometer corridor is Rs 2,225 crore. According to the authorities’ estimation, around 3,000 people are anticipated to use the 7-kilometer route during the first phase.
