AyodhyaTemple – Devkinandan Thakur Calls for Transparent Oversight of Ram Temple Affairs
AyodhyaTemple – Spiritual leader Devkinandan Thakur on Tuesday addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding alleged irregularities linked to donations made for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He stated that if the accusations are proven during the investigation, both the Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi would take appropriate action to ensure justice.

According to Thakur, the truth behind the allegations will become clear only after a thorough inquiry is completed. He said that any individual found responsible for wrongdoing in the name of Lord Ram should be held accountable under the law. He added that the governments at both the state and national levels are capable of ensuring a fair outcome if evidence supports the claims being made.
Demand for Religious Leadership in Temple Management
During his interaction with journalists, Thakur once again advocated for a management structure guided by religious authorities rather than government officials. Reiterating a position he has expressed in the past, he said the administration of the Ram Temple should function under the guidance of the Shankaracharyas.
He recalled that he had previously urged the creation of a Sanatan Board during the Kumbh Mela and continues to support that proposal. In his view, a dedicated body representing Sanatan traditions would be better suited to oversee temple-related matters. He emphasized that government officers should not play a direct role in the temple’s administration.
Emphasis on Proper Use of Temple Donations
Thakur also stressed the importance of maintaining transparency in the handling of funds donated by devotees. He noted that contributions made for religious purposes should be used responsibly and in accordance with their intended objectives.
He said followers of Sanatan Dharma hold the Shankaracharyas in high regard and that their guidance could help strengthen trust in temple administration. He further remarked that any misuse of temple resources, if established through investigation, should attract appropriate consequences. Such accountability, he said, would ultimately protect the interests and reputation of Sanatan traditions.
Supreme Court Petition Seeks Investigation
Meanwhile, legal developments related to the matter have continued. On Monday, a new Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was submitted before the Supreme Court seeking an investigation into allegations involving financial discrepancies, missing funds, and administrative irregularities connected to the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
The petition was filed under Article 32 of the Constitution by advocates Ajay Kumar Rai and Dinesh Kumar Yadav. The plea requests directions for the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) and the formation of a Central Bureau of Investigation-led Special Investigation Team (SIT). The petitioners have sought a comprehensive, impartial, and time-bound inquiry into the handling of donations and funds collected for the construction and management of the Ram Temple.
Uttar Pradesh Government Assures Fair Probe
Earlier this month, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed confidence in the investigation being conducted by the Special Investigation Team. Speaking on June 19, he said the inquiry would reveal the facts without leaving room for uncertainty.
The Chief Minister also appealed to devotees not to be influenced by narratives that could harm the image of the Ram Temple or the religious significance of Ayodhya. He maintained that the investigation process would proceed objectively and that the truth would emerge through the findings of the SIT.
