AdmissionsAlert – NTA Rejects Viral Claims of NEET UG Re-Exam Paper Leak

AdmissionsAlert –  The National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Central government have dismissed claims circulating on social media that the question paper for the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination was leaked through a Telegram channel before the test. Authorities have described the viral content as false and urged candidates to rely only on official sources for information related to the examination.

Nta denies neet reexam paper leak rumours

PIB Fact Check Labels Viral Video as False

The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check unit issued a clarification on Monday after a video began gaining traction online. According to the PIB, the video falsely alleged that the NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination paper had been leaked ahead of the exam.

In its statement, the fact-checking unit said that reports suggesting a paper leak were baseless and did not reflect the actual situation. Officials emphasized that no verified evidence supports the claims being circulated on social media platforms.

NTA Says Examination Conducted Without Disruption

The NTA also responded to the controversy, stating that the re-examination was completed successfully on Sunday under strict security arrangements. The agency maintained that the video in question was fabricated and designed to create confusion among students and the public.

According to the testing body, multiple layers of surveillance and monitoring were deployed throughout the examination process to ensure transparency and fairness. Officials reiterated that the integrity of the examination remained intact throughout the day.

Warning Against Misinformation

The agency expressed concern over the deliberate spread of false information, noting that such actions could unnecessarily alarm candidates and their families. NTA stated that creating and distributing misleading content related to national-level examinations is a serious matter.

The agency further said it is coordinating with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and law enforcement authorities to identify those responsible for originating and sharing the fabricated video. Officials warned that appropriate action would be taken against individuals found involved in spreading misinformation.

Students, parents and stakeholders were advised to verify updates only through official NTA communication channels and the designated NEET website. The agency appealed to the public not to share unverified content that could create panic among aspirants.

Over 20 Lakh Candidates Appeared for Re-Examination

The NEET (UG) 2026 re-examination was conducted after the original examination faced controversy due to a question paper leak reported last month. The fresh examination was organized on a large scale across the country and overseas centres.

NTA data shows that more than 20 lakh candidates appeared for the re-test at 5,440 examination centres across India, along with 14 centres located abroad. The examination was conducted in 13 different languages to accommodate candidates from diverse regions.

Officials Express Confidence in Examination Process

NTA Director General Abhishek Singh said the re-examination was completed smoothly and that extensive security arrangements were implemented at every stage. He stated that, as of now, the agency has not received any complaints related to a question paper leak during the re-test.

Singh also indicated that the evaluation process would begin soon and that candidates could expect results earlier than usual. According to him, the agency managed to complete the entire examination cycle within a record period of 37 days, allowing for a faster result timeline while maintaining procedural standards.

The latest clarification from both the government and NTA aims to reassure candidates that the examination process remains secure and that unverified claims on social media should be treated with caution.
