Accident – Toddler Dies After Hit-and-Run Outside Mumbai Hospital Gate
Accident – A heartbreaking road accident near a hospital in Mumbai’s Parel area resulted in the death of a two-and-a-half-year-old boy on Friday morning. The child was struck by a passing car close to the hospital entrance, and the driver fled immediately after the collision. Police have registered a case of negligent driving against an unidentified motorist and have launched an investigation using surveillance footage from the surrounding area.

Child Identified as Two-Year-Old Ahmed Raza
The victim has been identified as Ahmed Raza Aamir Khan, aged two and a half. According to police officials, the incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. near Gate No. 5 of Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children in Parel.
Authorities stated that the boy’s father, Aamir Qutboddin Khan, lives with his family in Kurla and works in the fabrication industry. The family includes his wife Sana and their two children — five-year-old daughter Fatima and young Ahmed Raza.
Family Was Staying at Hospital for Daughter’s Treatment
Fatima has been receiving medical care for breathing complications and difficulty drinking milk. On February 26, Aamir and his wife brought their daughter to Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for further evaluation. Following medical examination, doctors admitted the child to Ward No. 11 for continued treatment.
Since their daughter required hospital care, both parents stayed at the hospital to attend to her. As Ahmed Raza was still very young, he remained with his parents during the hospital stay.
Accident Occurred While Child Was Playing Near Hospital Entrance
Police officials said that on Friday morning, Aamir was waiting outside the hospital gate for a relative named Sahil Khan. At the same time, Ahmed Raza was playing near Gate No. 5.
During those moments, a car passing near the entrance struck the child. The impact left the toddler critically injured. Witnesses reported that the driver did not stop to assist the child and left the scene immediately after the accident.
Child Shifted to ICU but Could Not Survive
After the collision, the boy was found bleeding from his mouth and ears. Family members and hospital staff rushed him inside Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for emergency treatment.
Doctors admitted the child to the Intensive Care Unit due to the seriousness of his injuries. Despite medical efforts, Ahmed Raza later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police Register Case and Begin Investigation
Hospital authorities informed the Bhoiwada Police about the incident soon after the child was brought in for treatment. Police officers arrived at the hospital and recorded the statement of the boy’s father.
Based on the complaint filed by Aamir Khan, a case has been registered against an unknown driver under charges related to causing death due to negligent driving.
CCTV Footage Being Examined to Trace Driver
Investigators have collected CCTV recordings from the hospital premises and nearby roads to identify the vehicle involved in the accident. Officials believe the footage may help determine the car’s registration details and trace the driver who fled the scene.
Police teams are currently reviewing the recordings and conducting searches in nearby areas. Authorities have stated that efforts are underway to locate the accused driver and take appropriate legal action.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over traffic safety near hospitals and crowded public spaces, where pedestrians, especially children, remain highly vulnerable.
