Accident – Sewage Pipeline Collapse and Fire Tragedy Shake Chhattisgarh Districts
Accident – A tragic accident during sewage pipeline construction in Chhattisgarh’s Balod district claimed the life of a labourer on Tuesday evening, while rescue teams continued efforts to locate two other workers feared trapped beneath collapsed soil debris.

The incident took place in the Dalli Rajhara area between 5 pm and 5:30 pm when workers were engaged in laying underground sewage pipes. According to local officials, the earth surrounding the construction trench suddenly gave way, burying several labourers working at the site.
Rescue Teams Continue Search Operation
Police and emergency response teams rushed to the location shortly after authorities received information about the collapse. Rescue personnel began clearing heavy debris in an attempt to trace the missing workers believed to be trapped underneath the soil.
City Superintendent of Police Vikas Patle confirmed that one worker had been found dead while search operations were still underway for the remaining labourers.
Officials stated that the rescue mission was being carried out carefully due to unstable soil conditions around the excavation area. Local administration teams also remained present at the scene to monitor the ongoing operation and coordinate emergency assistance.
Questions Raised Over Construction Safety
The accident has once again highlighted concerns surrounding worker safety at infrastructure project sites. Authorities are expected to examine whether proper safety measures were in place during the sewage pipeline work.
Local residents gathered near the accident site as rescue teams continued their efforts late into the evening. Police officials have not yet released the identities of the affected workers, and further details are awaited from the administration.
Construction-related accidents involving trench collapses have become a growing concern in several regions, especially during underground pipeline and drainage work where labourers operate in confined and unstable areas.
Separate Fire Incident Claims Four Lives in Durg
