Accident – Delhi Road Crash Near Alipur Leaves Three Dead, Four Hurt
Accident – A devastating collision involving a truck and an autorickshaw in northwest Delhi claimed the lives of three people, including a young girl, while four others sustained injuries on Wednesday morning.

Police officials said the accident took place near Shiv Mandir in the Alipur area at around 7:30 am. Emergency teams rushed to the location soon after receiving a PCR call regarding the incident. According to initial findings, the autorickshaw carrying seven passengers was allegedly struck from behind by a speeding truck.
Victims Identified by Police
Authorities identified the deceased as autorickshaw driver Raju Sharma, 52, a resident of Karawal Nagar, a nine-year-old girl, and another passenger whose identity had not been confirmed at the time of reporting. All three victims were declared dead upon arrival at Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital.
The injured included Mukesh, 48, his wife Pinki, 40, their six-year-old son, and Chotu Pandit, 28, who is originally from Bihar’s Champaran district. Doctors later referred the injured passengers to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital for further treatment due to the seriousness of their injuries.
Family Was Returning Home
Investigators revealed that Mukesh and his family had recently returned from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh. After arriving at the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT), they hired the autorickshaw to travel to Tikri village when the crash occurred during the journey.
Police sources said the force of the impact severely damaged the rear portion of the autorickshaw. Eyewitnesses and local residents immediately gathered at the scene and helped pull several passengers out before rescue teams arrived.
Fire Officials Describe Rescue Operation
Officials from Delhi Fire Services stated that two passengers were trapped inside the mangled vehicle following the collision. Rescue personnel had to work carefully to remove them from the wreckage. By the time fire teams reached the location, local residents along with police officers had already rescued five people from the damaged autorickshaw.
Images from the site showed the vehicle extensively crushed, indicating the intensity of the crash. Authorities temporarily slowed traffic movement in the surrounding area while emergency operations were underway.
Truck Driver Taken Into Custody
Following preliminary investigations, police traced and detained the truck driver, identified as Anil, 23, a resident of Bihar’s Madhubani district. Officers said a case has been registered at Alipur police station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to negligent driving, endangering public safety, and causing death due to rash driving.
Investigators are also examining whether speeding or driver negligence contributed to the incident. The truck involved in the crash has been seized for further inspection.
Concerns Over Road Safety Continue
The fatal accident once again raised concerns about road safety and heavy vehicle movement in parts of Delhi during peak morning hours. Local residents have often complained about reckless driving by commercial vehicles on busy roads connecting outer Delhi areas.
Police officials said further investigation is underway, and statements from witnesses are being recorded to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the tragedy.
