Police Receive Emergency Call

According to Delhi Police, officers from Vasant Kunj South Police Station reached the accident site after receiving a PCR call reporting a serious road mishap. At the location, they found the damaged vehicle and the injured driver, later identified as Yashvendra. A young woman, who was travelling with him in the front passenger seat, was also present at the scene.

Investigators said the two had spent the previous night at a friend’s residence and were returning toward the woman’s home when the accident took place.

Preliminary Findings Point to Slippery Road

Based on the initial investigation and the statement provided by the co-passenger, police believe the driver lost control of the car as it approached the Nangal Dewat traffic junction. The road surface was reportedly slippery, causing the vehicle to skid before falling into a nearby drain and overturning.

Yashvendra suffered serious injuries in the crash. Despite efforts to save him, he later died from those injuries, police confirmed.

Vehicle Ownership and Background

Police said the car involved in the accident belongs to the female passenger, although Yashvendra was driving it at the time of the incident. Authorities have not indicated any evidence of foul play, and the investigation continues as part of the standard legal process.

Officials further stated that both Yashvendra and his friend were pursuing higher education at the same educational institution in the United States, where they became acquainted during their studies.

Family Details Shared by Police

Yashvendra was the son of an Indian Army officer, according to police. The woman travelling with him is a resident of Vasant Kunj. Her father works in the cyber security division of a private company based in Delhi’s Okhla area, while her mother is a homemaker.

Police said all required legal formalities are being completed in connection with the case.

Another Recent Fatal Road Accident in Delhi

The latest incident comes weeks after another fatal road accident reported in the national capital. Earlier in July, a scooter rider identified as Deepak, a resident of Mangolpuri, died after being struck by a car near Jahangirpuri Bus Stand.

Police said they received information about the collision near the Foot Over Bridge on the Outer Ring Road, also known as the GTK Bypass, leading toward ISBT. The injured scooter rider was taken to BJRM Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Investigation Led to Driver’s Arrest

During the investigation into the Jahangirpuri case, police found that a Mercedes car had allegedly hit the scooter before leaving the scene. Officers later traced the vehicle and served a notice under Section 133 of the Motor Vehicles Act to its registered owner.

The inquiry identified Ansh Pratap Singh as the person driving the car at the time of the collision. Following the investigation, an FIR was registered at Jahangirpuri Police Station, and the accused driver was arrested. Police said further legal proceedings in the matter are continuing in accordance with the law.
