According to the airline, the aircraft experienced a brief turbulence-related incident while cruising, causing a temporary change in altitude before continuing its journey safely. The flight later landed without further complications at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, where all passengers and crew members disembarked safely.
Minor Injuries Reported During the Flight
Initial information indicates that at least 12 individuals were injured during the turbulence. Among them were 10 passengers and two cabin crew members. Air India clarified that the injuries reported were minor and that no serious medical emergencies had been confirmed following the incident.
The airline stated that some passengers and crew members were taken to a medical facility at the airport after landing. This step was taken as a precaution to ensure proper medical evaluation and treatment where necessary. Airport medical teams, along with Air India’s support staff, assisted those requiring examination.
Airline Confirms Safe Landing in Delhi
In an official statement, Air India said flight AI2379, operating between Phuket and Delhi, experienced a short-lived turbulence event during the cruise phase of the journey. Despite the sudden disturbance, the aircraft remained under control and completed its scheduled flight safely.
The airline emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew remained its highest priority throughout the incident. It also confirmed that everyone on board exited the aircraft safely after arrival in Delhi.
Flight Data Shows Temporary Altitude Change
Information available through flight-tracking platform Flightradar24 indicated that the Airbus A320 operating the route experienced a noticeable loss of altitude shortly before reaching Delhi. Such altitude variations can occur during severe turbulence as pilots respond to changing weather conditions or air movements while maintaining aircraft safety.
However, Air India has not suggested that the temporary altitude change affected the aircraft’s ability to complete the flight safely.
Investigation and Passenger Assistance Underway
Air India said it is extending full support to all passengers and crew members affected by the incident. The airline added that it is working closely with the relevant authorities to examine the circumstances surrounding the turbulence event.
While the exact number of people travelling on board the aircraft has not yet been officially released, the airline reiterated that there were no reports of life-threatening injuries. Authorities and airline officials are expected to review flight data and operational details as part of the standard post-incident assessment.
