TaiwanSecurity – Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) said on Monday that several Chinese naval and government vessels were detected operating in waters surrounding the island, prompting monitoring measures by Taiwanese armed forces.
According to information released by the ministry, seven vessels belonging to the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) and four official Chinese ships were observed near Taiwan up to 6 a.m. local time. Officials stated that military personnel closely tracked the movements and maintained appropriate response measures throughout the monitoring period.
No Military Aircraft Detected During Latest Monitoring Period
The defence ministry noted that no Chinese military aircraft were identified in the area during the latest reporting window. As a result, authorities did not publish any aircraft route information alongside the daily update.
Taiwan’s armed forces emphasized that they continue to maintain surveillance over activities occurring in nearby airspace and surrounding waters. The ministry regularly issues public reports on military movements around the island as part of its transparency policy.
Similar Activity Reported One Day Earlier
The latest figures follow a similar update released on Sunday. In that report, Taiwan recorded one sortie by a People’s Liberation Army aircraft, along with eight PLAN vessels and four official Chinese ships operating near the island.
Defence officials said the situation was carefully observed and that military units remained prepared to respond whenever necessary. Such reports have become a routine feature of Taiwan’s security updates amid ongoing regional tensions.
US President Addresses Taiwan Issue
In a separate development last month, US President Donald Trump commented on cross-strait relations while speaking with reporters at Joint Base Andrews before traveling to Connecticut.
During the media interaction, Trump indicated that the United States would continue engaging on matters related to Taiwan. He also referred to discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping, describing previous talks as productive and expressing confidence in handling issues concerning the region.
