Investigation – SIT formed to probe Moinabad farmhouse drug case
Investigation – The Telangana Police have initiated a detailed probe into the alleged drug use at a farmhouse in Moinabad, appointing a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine the matter thoroughly.

SIT tasked with time-bound investigation
Authorities have constituted a Special Investigation Team under the leadership of senior police official Sudheer Babu to look into the case. The team has been instructed to complete its inquiry and submit a charge sheet within three months. The case has drawn attention due to the involvement of prominent political figures, including a sitting Member of Parliament and a former legislator.
According to official orders issued by the state’s top police leadership, the SIT will investigate every aspect of the incident, including how the alleged activities were organized and whether there were larger networks involved. The goal is to uncover the origins of the case and ensure accountability based on evidence.
Composition of the investigation team
The nine-member SIT includes officers from different branches of law enforcement to ensure a comprehensive inquiry. Senior officers such as deputy commissioners of police, special task force members, and experienced investigators have been assigned to the case.
The investigation is being led on the ground by the Station House Officer of Moinabad Police Station, who will serve as the primary investigating officer. He is being assisted by sub-inspectors from nearby police stations, ensuring coordination across jurisdictions.
Officials believe that this multi-layered team structure will help examine both operational details and broader connections, if any, linked to the alleged incident.
Political reactions raise pressure on authorities
The case has also sparked political reactions, with leaders calling for strict enforcement of anti-drug laws. A senior Congress leader has urged the government to take decisive action, questioning how such incidents continue despite ongoing campaigns against narcotics.
He pointed out that the presence of drugs at a private gathering involving public figures raises serious concerns about enforcement gaps. He emphasized the need for consistent action rather than isolated crackdowns, stressing that public trust depends on visible and firm measures.
Details of the police raid
The incident came to light after a raid conducted by a specialized anti-drug unit following credible intelligence inputs. Police officials stated that they received information about a gathering at a farmhouse where narcotic substances were allegedly being consumed along with alcohol.
Acting on this information, the team entered the premises and began a search operation. During the raid, officers reported unusual activity and quickly moved to secure the area.
Arrests and findings during operation
During the operation, a group of individuals present at the farmhouse was taken into custody. Police officials confirmed that several attendees underwent preliminary drug testing, and multiple individuals tested positive.
In addition to suspected drug use, officers also recovered a firearm from one of the individuals present. Another person was reportedly found carrying empty ammunition. Authorities said that all standard procedures were followed after the raid, including medical examinations and further testing at a hospital.
A total of eleven individuals were detained during the operation. Officials stated that evidence collection, documentation, and forensic procedures are currently underway as part of the ongoing investigation.
Focus on accountability and further action
The formation of the SIT signals a more structured and in-depth approach by law enforcement agencies. Officials have indicated that the investigation will not be limited to those present at the farmhouse but will also examine how the substances were procured and whether any organized networks were involved.
The case continues to be closely monitored, given its political sensitivity and implications for drug enforcement efforts in the state. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring that the investigation proceeds without bias and that appropriate legal action is taken based on findings.
