DrugTrafficking – Major Cocaine Smuggling Plot Uncovered After Border Interception
DrugTrafficking – Australian authorities have charged six men in connection with an alleged international drug trafficking operation after investigators uncovered a large shipment of cocaine concealed inside imported vehicle parts and later discovered a suspected clandestine drug manufacturing facility in New South Wales.

According to the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Australian Border Force (ABF), the investigation began in December 2025 when border officials examined a shipment that had arrived from California in the United States. The consignment contained four vehicle transmissions that raised suspicion during routine inspections.
Cocaine Hidden Inside Vehicle Components
After dismantling the transmissions, officers allegedly found 120 kilograms of cocaine concealed within the machinery. Authorities estimated the street value of the seized drugs at approximately 39 million Australian dollars.
The discovery triggered a lengthy investigation that ultimately led officers to several locations across New South Wales. Detectives spent months gathering evidence before carrying out coordinated search operations in June.
Drug Laboratory Found During Raids
On June 18, investigators executed search warrants at four separate properties across the state. One of the most significant discoveries was made at a rural property in Kingsdale, located southwest of Sydney.
Police reported finding a large commercial-scale laboratory that they believe was being used to produce substantial quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine. During the search, officers allegedly seized an additional 44 kilograms of cocaine along with 2 kilograms of methamphetamine.
Four men aged 35, 41, 45 and 49 were arrested at the site. Authorities said they have been charged with offences linked to trafficking commercial quantities of illegal drugs. If convicted, the accused could face life imprisonment under Australian law.
Two additional men, aged 52 and 56, were arrested at other locations and charged with separate offences related to the investigation.
Record Drug Seizure in Separate Operation
The latest arrests come shortly after Australian authorities announced the largest cocaine seizure ever recorded in the country’s history.
Investigators recently uncovered approximately 2.7 tonnes of cocaine at a property in Londonderry, a suburb situated northwest of Sydney. The drugs were discovered while officers were executing a search warrant as part of an ongoing organised crime investigation.
Police found the cocaine stored inside plastic crates hidden beneath false floors in shipping containers. The containers had been modified to conceal underground storage bunkers, making the operation particularly sophisticated.
Authorities estimated that the seized cocaine had a street value of around 816 million Australian dollars and could have supplied millions of individual drug transactions.
Links to Organised Crime Network
Two men aged 21 and 25 were arrested following the Londonderry operation. Both have been charged with possessing a commercial quantity of an unlawfully imported border-controlled drug, an offence that carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
Investigators believe the drugs were connected to a broader international trafficking network. The inquiry reportedly began after police recovered 40 kilograms of cocaine floating near a boat ramp in Queensland in May.
Subsequent searches linked the discovery to a larger shipment allegedly transferred from a vessel operating in deeper waters off Australia’s coastline. Authorities later seized an additional 178 kilograms of cocaine and 142 kilograms of methamphetamine during follow-up operations.
International Investigation Continues
Police allege the cocaine found at the Londonderry property formed part of the same importation network and was transported to Sydney on behalf of an organised criminal group.
Authorities also confirmed that a vessel suspected of being involved in the operation has been detained in the Solomon Islands. Investigators from multiple agencies continue to examine potential international links as efforts to dismantle the alleged trafficking network move forward.
