Cybersecurity – Israel Announces Elimination of Senior Hamas Military Commander in Gaza
Cybersecurity – Israel has confirmed the killing of Muhammad Odeh, a senior Hamas commander accused of playing a major role in the October 7 attacks. The announcement came as Israeli forces intensified military operations in both Gaza and southern Lebanon amid rising regional tensions.

Israeli officials said the operation was conducted under the direction of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Odeh had recently taken charge of Hamas’s military wing after the death of Ezzedine al-Haddad in an earlier Israeli strike in Gaza.
Authorities in Israel described Odeh as one of the key figures linked to the October 7 assault, which triggered the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Officials alleged that he previously headed Hamas intelligence operations and was involved in planning attacks that resulted in the deaths, injuries, and abductions of Israeli civilians and soldiers.
Israeli Leadership Reacts to Operation
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later confirmed the development through a public statement on social media. He said Israeli forces would continue targeting individuals connected to the October 2023 attacks.
Netanyahu stated that the country remained committed to pursuing those responsible for the violence that led to one of the deadliest incidents in Israel’s recent history. Israeli leaders have repeatedly maintained that military operations in Gaza are aimed at dismantling Hamas’s command structure and operational network.
The latest strike is part of a broader campaign launched by Israel following the October attacks. Over recent months, Israeli forces have targeted multiple senior Hamas figures in Gaza as part of efforts to weaken the organisation’s military capabilities.
Rising Tensions Along the Lebanon Border
At the same time, Israeli military activity has expanded in southern Lebanon, where tensions with Hezbollah continue to escalate. Regional media reports said several air strikes were carried out in different areas of the Tyre and Marjayoun districts.
According to reports, strikes hit locations including Burj Rahal, Srifa, Kawthariyat al-Ruz, as-Sawana, and Qabrikha. The attacks were part of a wider series of operations that intensified after recent drone incidents and cross-border hostilities.
Media outlets in the region reported that dozens of people were killed or injured during Tuesday’s strikes across southern Lebanon. However, casualty figures could not be independently verified at the time of reporting.
Hezbollah Conflict Continues to Expand
The growing military activity comes after Netanyahu signalled a tougher approach against Hezbollah earlier this week. In a public video statement, he said Israeli forces would continue increasing pressure on the Iran-backed group.
The Israeli prime minister claimed that hundreds of Hezbollah fighters had been killed in recent operations. He also indicated that the military had been instructed to maintain aggressive action along the northern front.
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified steadily since the Gaza war began. Cross-border rocket fire, drone attacks, and air strikes have become more frequent, raising concerns among international observers about the possibility of a wider regional confrontation.
International Attention Focused on Regional Stability
Global attention remains fixed on developments in the Middle East as diplomatic efforts continue to prevent further escalation. Several countries and international organisations have urged restraint while calling for humanitarian protections for civilians affected by the violence.
The ongoing military exchanges in Gaza and Lebanon have added pressure to an already unstable regional situation. Analysts believe the coming weeks could play an important role in determining whether tensions remain contained or expand into a broader conflict involving multiple armed groups.
Israel has continued to defend its military actions as necessary security measures, while criticism and concern over civilian casualties and regional instability continue to grow internationally.
