Salman Khan: petitions the Delhi High Court to have his personality rights protected
Salman Khan : an actor, has petitioned the Delhi High Court to defend his rights to publicity and identity. Salman Khan is requesting complete legal protection against the unapproved use of his personality features, and the Delhi High Court will hear his suit on Thursday. This action contributes to the increasing number of prominent personalities who are using the legal system to prevent identity theft, particularly in light of the development of digital media and artificial intelligence.

Salman is asking the Court to prevent a number of individuals, both identified and anonymous, from utilizing his name, voice, likeness, conversation, mannerisms, image, and other aspects of his identity without his consent. He claims that several organizations and platforms have used his name without his permission, which might deceive consumers, diminish the value of his brand, and gravely violate his rights both personally and commercially.
The petition notes that other well-known movie actors and digital innovators have also filed lawsuits in recent months to defend their personal and professional identities. For these matters, the Delhi High Court has grown in importance. Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, and content creator Raj Shamani have previously received significant rulings protecting their rights, acknowledging their exclusive right to manage the commercial use of their identities.
The Court has also examined emerging issues such as deepfakes, AI-generated impersonations, and other fraudulent digital information that may swiftly harm a person’s reputation and image. Judges have said in a number of rulings that these impersonations violate people’s rights to privacy, dignity, and notoriety, but they have also cautioned that the Constitution should still preserve genuine creative expression, satire, news reporting, and commentary.
