Reality TV – Kunal Kemmu Begins Hosting Journey Without Salman Khan Comparisons

Reality TV – Actor Kunal Kemmu has said he is not approaching his first hosting assignment with concerns about being compared to Salman Khan. Kemmu is set to make his reality television hosting debut with Alliance and says he intends to handle the opportunity in his own way.

The actor said the role is unfamiliar territory for him, and he is entering the show without trying to predict how viewers may respond. Rather than shaping his approach around established television hosts, Kemmu said he plans to remain natural in front of the camera.

Kunal Kemmu says established hosts have set high standards

In an interaction with IANS, Kemmu was asked whether he had considered the possibility of comparisons with Salman Khan, who has long been associated with the reality show format.

Kemmu said such thoughts had not influenced his decision to take up the project. He noted that several presenters have worked in the space for years and have developed their own successful styles.

“I didn’t think about all that. People have been doing it way before I have been doing it. And they are doing it very well,” he said.

The actor added that he does not see value in copying another host’s manner of presenting a show. At the same time, he said he is not making a conscious effort to create a sharply contrasting persona.

A fresh approach to a new television role

Kemmu described hosting as a new experience and said he is still discovering what kind of presenter he may become. According to him, the process will develop naturally as the show progresses and as audiences see him in the role.

He said people often form expectations based on what they have previously watched, particularly when a format has been led by familiar faces for many years. However, Kemmu said he does not want those expectations to determine his own approach.

“Your conditioning is such that maybe this is how it happens because you have never seen it. So I am neither trying to emulate anyone, nor am I trying to be different from anyone,” he said.

Kemmu also acknowledged that he does not yet have a fixed idea of his hosting style. He said he is relying on instinct and will respond to the demands of the show as they arise.

Actor says he is learning through the experience

The actor said he is stepping into the assignment without a prepared template. He believes viewers and colleagues may eventually identify certain qualities in his presentation, but he does not want to force those traits from the beginning.

“I am entering it blindly. I don’t know myself. Maybe sometimes someone will say that this is the tone that was caught or this is something different. I don’t know. And I am genuinely doing what I feel is right,” Kemmu said.

His comments underline a measured approach to a format that often depends heavily on the host’s personality, audience engagement and ability to guide contestants through changing situations.

Salman Khan’s long association with reality television

Salman Khan remains one of the most recognisable faces in Indian reality television through his long-running association with Bigg Boss. He has hosted the programme for 15 seasons and is widely regarded as a major presence in the genre.

Kemmu’s upcoming assignment comes as he expands his work beyond acting and filmmaking. His most recent screen appearance was in Madgaon Express, a film that also marked his debut as a director. The project drew attention for its offbeat storytelling and performances.

With Alliance, Kemmu will now take on a different kind of public-facing role, bringing his own perspective to the reality television space.
