While today’s film sets offer advanced facilities and greater comfort, she believes the earlier decades carried a warmth and simplicity that made every experience special.
Simplicity Defined an Unforgettable Period
Speaking in a recent vlog on her YouTube channel, Neelam shared that working conditions during her peak years were far less convenient than what actors enjoy today. She explained that film sets lacked many basic comforts, including air-conditioned makeup rooms and vanity vans, making long shooting schedules physically demanding.
The actress remembered arriving on set after spending considerable time on hair and makeup, only to find the effort quickly undone because of the heat. Despite those challenges, she said the atmosphere on set was filled with genuine enthusiasm and close-knit teamwork. According to Neelam, the simplicity of that period remains one of the biggest reasons she still feels emotionally connected to those years.
Friendly Dance Rivalry With Govinda
Neelam also revisited her successful on-screen collaboration with Govinda, particularly during song sequences that became audience favourites. She recalled that every dance performance felt like a healthy contest, with both actors trying to deliver their best moves while maintaining perfect coordination.
She said their shared energy and synchronized performances played a significant role in making many of their songs memorable. Among them, she singled out “Aap Ke Aa Jane Se” as the most iconic track of her career and expressed gratitude to viewers for keeping the song popular even decades after its release.
