Entertainment –Television actress Shivangi Joshi has spoken openly about her long-standing battle with acne and facial skin concerns, sharing how such experiences have shaped her understanding of body image and emotional well-being. Shivangi joshi opens up about skin struggles

Shivangi recalls painful comments on the show

While interacting with Ram Kapoor during a conversation on the show, Shivangi addressed the controversy involving contestant Shreya Kalra. Earlier in the competition, Shreya had repeatedly referred to Shivangi as “Annabelle,” drawing a comparison with the haunted doll from the popular horror film series.

Speaking about the incident, Shivangi admitted that the repeated nickname deeply affected her. She said remarks targeting someone’s appearance can leave a lasting emotional impact, especially for individuals who have dealt with self-confidence issues related to their looks. According to the actress, such comments are often more hurtful than they may appear from the outside.

Personal battle with acne shaped her perspective

Explaining why she sympathised with Shreya after the latter experienced a facial allergy, Shivangi revealed that she has lived with acne and recurring skin problems for most of her life. She said those personal experiences helped her understand the emotional discomfort that accompanies visible skin conditions.

The actress shared that she made a conscious effort to comfort Shreya during that difficult period because she knew firsthand how vulnerable someone can feel when dealing with changes to their appearance. Shivangi noted that people facing skin-related issues often struggle with insecurity and may hesitate to face others or appear on camera.

Appearance-based jokes leave lasting emotional scars

Continuing the discussion, Shivangi said that being mocked for her face or even her makeup has always been upsetting. She explained that individuals who have experienced skin concerns often become highly conscious of their appearance, making casual jokes or repeated remarks particularly painful.

She added that anyone who has dealt with facial insecurities can understand the fear of being judged in public. According to Shivangi, empathy becomes especially important in such situations because even seemingly harmless comments may have a significant emotional effect on the person receiving them.

Actress also responds to remarks about television dramas

Apart from discussing the personal comments directed at her, Shivangi also expressed disappointment over statements allegedly made by Shreya Kalra and Shilpa regarding television daily soaps. She questioned why working in long-running television dramas should be viewed negatively, pointing out that the industry has provided opportunities to countless performers.

Shivangi said she found it unfair that daily soap actors were being criticised despite their dedication and contribution to television entertainment. She also mentioned fellow television actor Harshad while reacting to the conversation and stated that she did not understand the criticism aimed at actors associated with the genre.

According to Shivangi, Shreya herself had previously acknowledged attending numerous acting auditions without securing roles, making the criticism of television actors difficult for her to understand.

Earlier online trolling over acne marks

Shivangi Joshi, widely recognised for her role in the popular television series Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has previously spoken through her actions about dealing with public scrutiny. A few years ago, she became the target of online trolling after viewers noticed visible acne marks during several episodes of the show.

Her latest remarks on Lock Upp have once again highlighted the importance of kindness and sensitivity while discussing another person’s appearance. By sharing her personal experiences, Shivangi drew attention to the emotional challenges that often accompany skin conditions and encouraged a more understanding approach toward people facing similar struggles.
