Makers Call the Film a Personal Milestone

In their statement, the actor-producer duo described the project as an important milestone in their journey as producers. They said the film represents years of effort, dedication and belief, making it a deeply personal project for them. According to the note, the decision to delay the release was taken to ensure the film receives enough time and attention before arriving in theatres.

The couple also mentioned that ‘Raftaar’ is more than just a commercial release for them. They referred to it as the beginning of their entry into theatrical filmmaking and expressed gratitude to audiences for their continued support throughout the production process. Their message highlighted themes of ambition, struggle and determination that form the emotional core of the story.

Story Revolves Around India’s Expanding Ed-Tech Sector

Set against the backdrop of the rapidly growing ed-tech business landscape in India, the film explores the intense competition and high-pressure environment within the startup ecosystem. The narrative follows the swift rise of a company driven by ambition and aggressive expansion, while also focusing on a relationship caught in the middle of personal and professional conflicts.

The storyline centres on two ambitious individuals pursuing success in a fast-moving corporate world where financial growth and influence often come at a heavy personal cost. The drama examines how the pursuit of power and money can affect trust, relationships and emotional stability. Industry observers believe the film’s subject matter could resonate with younger audiences familiar with the startup culture and corporate race.

Strong Ensemble Cast Joins the Project

Apart from Rajkummar Rao, the film features a notable cast including Keerthy Suresh, Tanya Maniktala, Rajat Kapoor, Rohan Verma and Anurag Thakur. The film has been directed by Aditya Nimbalkar, while Patralekhaa has produced it under the Kampa Film banner.

The screenplay and story have been written by Rohan Narula. Tarun Bali serves as the executive producer for the project. The movie is backed as an Amazon MGM Studios Original and will be distributed in theatres by PVR INOX Pictures.

Dussehra Weekend Seen as Strategic Release Period

The shift to the October release calendar places the film during one of the major festive windows in the Indian film industry. Extended holiday weekends around Dussehra often attract larger footfalls to theatres, making the period commercially important for producers and distributors. Several production houses typically target festive dates to maximise audience turnout and improve box office performance.

Industry analysts note that moving a film release is not uncommon, particularly when filmmakers believe additional time can help improve post-production work, promotional campaigns or overall audience reach. By choosing the Dussehra frame, the makers appear to be positioning the film for wider visibility during the festive season.

With its blend of corporate drama, emotional conflict and startup-driven storytelling, ‘Raftaar’ is expected to offer a contemporary narrative rooted in modern business realities. The makers have now set October 16 as the official release date for the film’s theatrical debut.
