Cinema – Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi shared a memorable moment with Academy Award-winning star Rami Malek during the ongoing 79th Cannes Film Festival, which officially began on May 12. The actress appeared alongside several international film personalities at a special gathering organized to recognize women’s achievements in cinema.

Huma reposted a photograph originally shared by the Red Sea Film Foundation on Instagram. The event was part of the foundation’s “Women in Cinema” initiative, which highlighted the contributions of female artists from different parts of the world. In the picture, Huma and Malek were seen smiling while posing together for photographers at the prestigious film festival venue in Cannes.
Women in Cinema Event Draws International Attention
The event brought together a diverse group of actors, filmmakers, and industry leaders from across the global entertainment landscape. Alongside Huma Qureshi, the gathering also featured Indian actress Tara Sutaria and Nigerian actor Genevieve Nnaji among several invited guests.
According to the statement shared by the foundation, the evening celebrated women who have made notable contributions to filmmaking and storytelling. The guest list included several internationally known personalities such as Demi Moore, filmmaker Chloé Zhao, actor Rami Malek, and model Sara Sampaio.
The event also saw participation from executives associated with the Red Sea International Film Festival, including CEO Faisal Baltyuor and Managing Director Shivani Pandya Malhotra.

Rami Malek remains one of Hollywood’s most recognized actors after his acclaimed portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in the 2018 biographical drama Bohemian Rhapsody. His performance earned widespread praise and secured him the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2019.
The achievement made Malek the first actor of Egyptian heritage to win the Oscar in that category. Over the years, he has built a strong filmography through projects such as No Time to Die, Oppenheimer, Night at the Museum, and The Little Things.

Meanwhile, Huma Qureshi is currently preparing for the release of the much-anticipated film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, headlined by actor Yash. In the film, Huma is expected to portray the character Elizabeth.
The cast also includes Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, and Akshay Oberoi.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas and co-written by Yash, the project has been filmed simultaneously in Kannada and English. The makers are also planning dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, aiming for a wide theatrical reach across different regions.
The Cannes appearance has further increased attention around Huma’s international presence as she continues balancing global events and upcoming film projects.
