Politics – The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has stepped up its organisational efforts as it prepares for upcoming Assembly elections in several states, with a focus on strengthening its presence beyond its traditional base.

Chirag paswan expansion state election plan

Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan has announced that the party has officially started preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He also confirmed that organisational work for the Punjab Assembly polls will begin later this month as part of the party’s broader expansion strategy.

Focus on Uttar Pradesh and Punjab

Speaking to reporters in Haridwar, Paswan said the party has entered the initial phase of election planning in Uttar Pradesh. According to him, preparations in Punjab are also scheduled to begin during the current month, reflecting the party’s intent to strengthen its presence in multiple states ahead of future electoral contests.

He noted that these efforts are aimed at expanding the party’s organisational network while preparing for upcoming political challenges.

Uttarakhand Unit Seeks Approval to Contest

Paswan also addressed the demand raised by the party’s Uttarakhand unit, which has recommended that Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) field candidates in the 2027 Uttarakhand Assembly elections. However, he clarified that the proposal has not yet received formal approval from the party’s national leadership.

The recommendation will now be placed before the central parliamentary board, which will review the proposal before making a final decision. The leadership is also expected to appoint election in-charges as part of the evaluation process.

Final Decision Expected Soon

The Union Minister indicated that the party leadership is likely to reach a conclusion on the Uttarakhand proposal within the next month. He explained that since the party is already moving ahead with preparations in Uttar Pradesh, contesting elections in Uttarakhand is also being actively considered.

According to Paswan, the final decision will depend on discussions within the central leadership after the parliamentary board completes its assessment.

Alliance Strategy to Be Decided Later

Earlier this month, on July 5, Paswan had announced that Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) plans to contest the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. He had said that decisions related to alliances, seat-sharing arrangements and the number of constituencies the party would contest would initially be worked out by the state unit.

He further explained that any recommendations made by the state leadership would require approval from the party’s central parliamentary board before becoming official.

Organisation Expansion Remains a Priority

Paswan reiterated that strengthening the party’s organisational structure across India remains one of its primary objectives. He said the leadership is working to expand its footprint in different states, with Uttar Pradesh emerging as an important focus area in that effort.

As part of this outreach, he also announced that this year’s birth anniversary celebrations of the party’s founder, Ram Vilas Paswan, will be held in Lucknow. The decision, he said, reflects the party’s commitment to increasing its engagement and visibility in Uttar Pradesh while continuing to build its organisational base.
