ElectionCampaign – Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi Rally in Tamil Nadu
ElectionCampaign – Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav is scheduled to campaign in Coimbatore and Tiruppur on Saturday alongside Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. The joint appearance is part of efforts to strengthen support for the Secular Progressive Alliance ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections set for April 23.

Key Leaders Intensify Campaign Efforts
In a parallel development, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is also set to address a public gathering later in the day in Thuraiyur, located in Tiruchirappalli district. The meeting is expected to begin around 4 PM at a privately arranged venue, drawing significant attention from party workers and local voters.
Rahul Gandhi is expected to travel from Chennai to Tiruchirappalli by air, landing at the international airport before proceeding to Thuraiyur via helicopter. Officials have arranged a temporary helipad at Zamindar Higher Secondary School to facilitate his arrival. From there, he will continue by road to the campaign site.
Focus on Alliance Candidates in Tiruchirappalli
During his visit, Rahul Gandhi is expected to campaign for nine candidates representing the secular alliance in various constituencies across the Tiruchirappalli region. The campaign event will also see participation from prominent local leaders, including state minister KN Nehru and Member of Parliament Arun Nehru.
According to All India Youth Congress General Secretary Vichu Lenin Prasad, all nine candidates will be present during the event. He described the occasion as significant, both politically and personally, noting his own journey from grassroots-level work to holding a national leadership role within the Youth Congress.
Preparations Underway for Public Meeting
Organisers have been working to ensure that the event runs smoothly, especially given the summer conditions. Preparations include constructing the main stage, arranging seating facilities, and setting up temporary shelters to provide relief from the heat. These measures are expected to help manage the anticipated large turnout.
Local leaders have expressed confidence that the campaign will energise supporters and strengthen the alliance’s position in the region. The presence of national and regional figures is seen as a key strategy to mobilise voters ahead of polling day.
Electoral Contest and Alliances
Tamil Nadu will hold its Assembly elections in a single phase on April 23, with vote counting scheduled for May 4. The electoral contest is primarily between the alliance led by the ruling party and its partners, and the opposition bloc.
The Secular Progressive Alliance includes parties such as the Congress, DMDK, and VCK, while the opposing coalition is led by AIADMK in partnership with the BJP and PMK. Both sides have intensified their campaigns in recent days, with top leaders visiting multiple constituencies to connect with voters.
Momentum Builds Ahead of Polling Day
With just days remaining before voting begins, campaign activities have gained pace across the state. Public meetings, roadshows, and targeted outreach efforts are being organised to influence undecided voters and consolidate support bases.
The upcoming rallies by Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi highlight the importance of Tamil Nadu in the broader political landscape, as parties aim to secure a strong mandate through coordinated campaign strategies and high-profile engagements.
