Education – Patna Coaching Hub Witnesses Clash Between Student Groups
Education – Tension spread across Patna’s Musallahpur Haat locality on Wednesday morning after a confrontation broke out between groups allegedly linked to two well-known coaching institutes operating in the area. The incident disrupted normal activity in one of the city’s busiest educational zones and prompted a swift response from law enforcement authorities.
According to initial information gathered by investigators, the dispute reportedly began between students connected to Khan Classes and Gyan Bindu Coaching Centre before escalating into a larger conflict. Witnesses reported scenes of stone-throwing and property damage, creating fear among residents, students, and business owners in the neighborhood. The disturbance led several shopkeepers to temporarily close their establishments while people in the vicinity sought shelter.
Violence Reported in Busy Education District
The clash occurred near coaching facilities that attract large numbers of students from across Bihar and neighboring regions. During the unrest, individuals from both sides allegedly engaged in stone-pelting, resulting in damage to property and public disorder.
A security guard working at Khan Classes suffered a head injury during the incident and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Reports also indicated that a banner belonging to the institute was damaged amid the confrontation. Authorities later confirmed that the injured guard is receiving medical care.
Police Teams Deployed to Restore Calm
As information about the incident spread, senior police officers reached the location to supervise security measures and assess the situation. Among those present was Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K. Sharma, who reviewed the circumstances surrounding the clash alongside other officials and police personnel.
Law enforcement agencies quickly increased their presence in the area to prevent further escalation. Officials stated that written complaints have been submitted by representatives from both coaching institutions, and these complaints will be examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
Rival Claims Under Investigation
The dispute has been further complicated by allegations from both sides regarding the events that unfolded during the violence. Representatives associated with Khan Classes have alleged that individuals connected to the opposing group fired shots during the disturbance.
Meanwhile, Gyan Bindu Coaching Centre has also made similar allegations, claiming that persons linked to Khan Classes were involved in firing. Police officials have emphasized that these claims remain under investigation and that no final conclusions will be reached until evidence is thoroughly examined.
Authorities have stated that witness testimonies, forensic findings, and available video footage will play an important role in determining the sequence of events.
Khan Sir Raises Concerns Over Incident
Speaking after the clash, educator Khan Sir alleged that the attack was connected to the growing reach of his institute and its focus on providing education at relatively low costs. He questioned opposition to affordable learning opportunities and stressed that quality education should remain accessible to students from financially weaker backgrounds.
He further claimed that the coaching institute’s premises were vandalized during the incident and alleged that shots were fired. According to him, surveillance footage from the institute has already been submitted to investigators. He also stated that the injured security guard identified some of the alleged participants as individuals associated with a nearby coaching center.
In addition, Khan Sir appealed for stronger security arrangements to prevent similar incidents in the future.
CCTV Footage Being Examined
Police have launched a detailed review of CCTV recordings collected from the coaching institute and surrounding areas. Investigators are working to identify individuals allegedly involved in stone-pelting, vandalism, and other unlawful activities.
SSP Kartikeya K. Sharma described the matter primarily as a case involving physical assault at this stage. He noted that statements from the injured guard, local residents, and other witnesses will be carefully reviewed as part of the inquiry. Officials have reiterated that action will be taken against anyone found responsible after the investigation is completed
