JPSC-JSSC – Jharkhand Students Continue Protest After Second Round of Talks
JPSC-JSSC – The second round of discussions between the JMM-led Jharkhand government and representatives of the JPSC-JSSC Aspirant Nyay Manch has ended, with student leaders saying the government heard their concerns and took their demands seriously. Despite the meeting, however, the protesting aspirants have decided to continue their agitation until they receive a clear and concrete resolution.
Students Demand Action on Recruitment Exam Issues
The students have been demonstrating against alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). Representatives of the protesting group said they placed their concerns before government officials along with supporting facts and documents.
Amit, who was part of the delegation, said the students explained the difficulties faced by aspirants across the state. He said the delegation also sought compensation of Rs. 1 crore for candidates who died during the physical efficiency test, or running trials, held for the Jharkhand Excise Constable recruitment process in 2024.
He said the students would not withdraw their protest until the government reaches a definite decision on their demands.
Government Assures Students of Further Action
Speaking after the meeting, another delegation member, Chandan, described the discussion as positive. According to him, the representatives were given an opportunity to explain each issue in detail, while government officials took note of the evidence and concerns presented by the students.
Chandan said the government informed the delegation that the matters would be discussed with the Chief Minister and that steps could be taken at the earliest. At the same time, he stressed that the students wanted a clear timeline for action.
The delegation also said candidates currently observing a hunger strike would continue their fast until there was meaningful progress on the demands.
Students Seek Review of TDPL-Run Examinations
One of the key demands raised during the talks concerns examinations conducted by TDPL, particularly those for which results have not yet been announced. The students have called for cancellation of such examinations and have urged the authorities to ensure that future recruitment tests are handled by a dependable agency.
The protesters suggested that an agency such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) could be entrusted with conducting examinations, or that the concerned commission could manage the process directly. They argued that examination responsibilities should not be handed to companies that have faced blacklisting or serious concerns.
CBI Probe Sought Into JSSC CGL Examination
Ravishankar, another member of the eight-person delegation, said the government gave the students sufficient time to present their concerns and recorded the points raised during the meeting.
He said the delegation has demanded a CBI investigation into the JSSC CGL examination. If an inquiry establishes irregularities, the students want the examination cancelled without delay. They have also sought faster re-appointment of eligible candidates and compensation for families of those who died during the Excise Constable recruitment physical tests.
Students Want Vacancies Filled Within Six Months
Another demand involves examinations that may ultimately be cancelled. Dinabandhu Mandal said the delegation has asked the government to fill all vacancies linked to cancelled examinations within six months and publish the corresponding merit lists.
The student representatives said they remain hopeful that the government will act on the issues discussed during the talks. However, they maintained that assurances alone will not end the agitation. The protest, they said, will continue until the government takes concrete steps and addresses the demands raised by the aspirants.
