Lok Sabha Secretariat – A senior official serving in the Lok Sabha Secretariat was found dead at his residence in Noida, prompting an investigation after authorities recovered a handwritten note that reportedly mentioned a financial loan. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident while awaiting the findings of the ongoing inquiry.
Senior Official Discovered at Residence
Gaurav Gautam, 40, who was working as a director in the Lok Sabha Secretariat, was discovered dead inside his apartment at Kendriya Vihar-II Society in Sector 82, Noida, on Sunday. According to police officials, he was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside the flat. The incident came to light after his wife returned home and was unable to enter the locked apartment.
Wife Alerted Security After Finding Flat Locked
Investigators said Gautam’s wife had been staying at her parental home before returning to the residence. When repeated attempts to access the apartment failed, she became concerned and sought assistance from a security guard. After entering the flat, they found Gautam unresponsive. He was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital, where doctors confirmed that he had already passed away.
Police Began Investigation After Hospital Intimation
Officials from Phase-2 Police Station stated that they received information about the case through a medico-legal memo sent by the hospital. Following the report, local police officers and a forensic team visited the apartment to inspect the scene. Evidence was documented and collected as part of the investigation before legal formalities were completed.
Purported Note Mentions Loan
During the search of the apartment, investigators recovered a note that is believed to have been written by the deceased. Police said the document reportedly referred to a loan, although they have not disclosed additional details about its contents. The note is currently being examined to determine its relevance to the case and whether it offers any insight into the circumstances leading to Gautam’s death.
Post-Mortem Conducted, Inquiry Continues
After completing the inquest proceedings, authorities sent the body for a post-mortem examination. The medical report, along with forensic findings and other evidence collected from the residence, will form part of the ongoing investigation.
