Parliament – PM Modi Meets BJP MPs Over Breakfast During Ongoing Monsoon Session

Parliament –Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted an informal breakfast interaction with Bharatiya Janata Party Members of Parliament at his official residence in New Delhi on Wednesday, bringing together 37 MPs as part of the party’s ongoing engagement with lawmakers during the current Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Informal Meeting Focuses on Parliamentary Engagement

The breakfast gathering formed part of the Prime Minister’s continuing practice of meeting different groups of BJP parliamentarians during every Parliament session. These interactions are intended to encourage discussions on governance, parliamentary functioning, and coordination within the party while providing legislators with an opportunity to communicate directly with the Prime Minister.

According to sources familiar with the meeting, Prime Minister Modi shared personal experiences and held wide-ranging informal conversations with the attending MPs. The discussions covered multiple subjects in a relaxed setting rather than through a formal agenda.

Senior Leaders and Alliance Representatives Attend

The meeting was attended by BJP MPs associated with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), along with several leaders who had previously been part of the Aam Aadmi Party before joining the BJP. Senior party functionaries, including Tarun Chugh, Vinod Tawde, and BJP leader Nitin Nabin, were also present during the interaction.

Such meetings are considered an important platform for strengthening communication between the party leadership and elected representatives from different regions of the country.

Regular Interactions During Parliament Sessions

Prime Minister Modi has consistently organized similar breakfast meetings during successive Parliament sessions. These smaller group interactions allow MPs to present feedback received from their constituencies, discuss policy-related matters, exchange views on parliamentary strategy, and raise governance-related issues directly with the Prime Minister.

The informal format is intended to promote open communication while helping the leadership remain informed about regional concerns and public expectations.

Monsoon Session Continues Until August 13

The breakfast meeting took place during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, which commenced on July 20 and is scheduled to conclude on August 13 after 19 sittings. Alongside pursuing its legislative priorities inside Parliament, the government has continued engaging with party lawmakers through interactions outside the House.

Before the beginning of the session, Prime Minister Modi had appealed to all political parties and Members of Parliament to ensure constructive discussions and the smooth conduct of parliamentary proceedings. He emphasized that meaningful debates and collective participation are essential for advancing the country’s development goals.

Legislative Business and Parliamentary Debates

The current session has featured discussions on several significant government bills and a range of public policy issues, including economic matters, public examinations, and national security. At the same time, repeated protests by opposition parties have resulted in disruptions in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha on multiple occasions.

Against this backdrop, the BJP leadership has continued its outreach efforts by holding regular interactions with its MPs. These meetings provide an opportunity to review governance initiatives, gather constituency-level feedback, and strengthen coordination between the government and the party’s parliamentary representatives throughout the session.
