Stock Market – Global Rally and Falling Oil Prices Signal Positive Start for Indian Markets

Stock Market – Indian benchmark equity indices are expected to begin the trading session on a positive note, backed by strong gains in US markets and a notable decline in international crude oil prices. Market participants are also taking encouragement from improving global sentiment and sustained domestic economic strength.

Wall Street Delivers Strong Performance

US stock markets ended Tuesday with impressive gains, lifting overall investor confidence across global financial markets. The S&P 500 climbed 1.79% to close at 7,737 points, reaching a fresh record high for the first time in nearly two months. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced by more than 900 points, or 1.71%, and finished above the 54,000 mark for the first time in its history.

Technology shares played a major role in the rally as investors returned to the sector following a period of uncertainty earlier in the summer. Strong quarterly earnings from several companies also contributed to the upbeat mood, while expectations of progress toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz further eased market concerns.

Technology Stocks Continue Recovery

The Nasdaq Composite, which is heavily weighted toward technology companies, recorded the strongest gain among the major US indices, rising 2.59% during the session. Although the index remains slightly below the all-time high it reached in early June, recent buying interest has helped narrow the gap after weeks of weakness.

Analysts noted that concerns surrounding artificial intelligence investments had weighed on technology stocks earlier in the season. However, stronger-than-expected corporate earnings, renewed investor confidence, and sector rotation have supported a broad-based recovery, helping major US indices move closer to record territory.

Lower Crude Oil Prices Offer Relief

International crude oil prices also moved lower, providing additional support for equity markets. Brent crude traded at approximately USD 78.33 per barrel, while US crude hovered around USD 74.51 per barrel during the reporting period.

A decline in oil prices is generally viewed as beneficial for India, which imports a significant portion of its energy requirements. Lower crude prices can help reduce inflationary pressures and improve the country’s economic outlook, factors that often strengthen investor sentiment toward domestic equities.

Analysts See Supportive Environment for Indian Equities

Rajesh Palviya, Head of Research at Axis Direct, said the strong rebound in US markets reflected improving investor confidence as concerns surrounding the Strait of Hormuz eased. He added that renewed buying in technology stocks, combined with a sharp correction in Brent crude prices, creates a favorable backdrop for Indian equities.

According to him, Brent crude has declined by nearly 6% and is now trading around the USD 79 per barrel level, a development that could provide additional support to market sentiment.

Domestic Factors Remain Encouraging

Market and banking expert Ajay Bagga also believes that the global environment points toward a positive opening for Indian benchmark indices. He said steady foreign portfolio investor inflows, healthy first-quarter corporate earnings, and recent legislative measures aimed at attracting long-term foreign investment continue to strengthen domestic market confidence.

Bagga observed that the Nifty 50 is currently trading within a clearly defined range, with support placed between 24,300 and 24,400, while resistance is seen near the 25,000 level. He added that investors have continued to show interest in buying during market declines, indicating resilience in the overall market structure despite ongoing global uncertainties.
