Crime Investigation – Delhi Property Dispute Murder Leads to Arrest in Mathura
Crime Investigation – A 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of his wife in Delhi, with investigators claiming he carefully planned the crime after drawing inspiration from a Hollywood crime drama. Police said the accused was traced and arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura after attempting to evade capture following the incident.
Property Dispute at the Centre of the Case
According to Delhi Police, the accused, identified as Kamal Singh, allegedly killed his wife, Komal, following a prolonged dispute over family property. During questioning, police claimed that Singh admitted to planning the crime in advance. Investigators said he allegedly believed that concealing the real weapon and leaving another blood-stained object at the crime scene would misdirect the investigation and make it difficult for police to identify how the murder had been committed.
Son Alerted Police After Suspecting Foul Play
The case came to light on July 30 when the couple’s son, Gaurav, contacted police and alleged that his father had murdered his mother. Officers reached the family’s residence and found Komal’s body lying near a couch in the drawing room. A blood-covered pair of scissors was recovered from a nearby table and was initially suspected to be the weapon used in the attack.
Police immediately began examining the crime scene while forensic teams collected evidence to determine the sequence of events.
Family Members Described Morning Argument
During the investigation, Gaurav told police that he had left home around 9.30 a.m. to visit his library in Noida. His sister departed for work approximately an hour later. Before leaving, both siblings reportedly witnessed their parents engaged in a heated argument over the registration of a property located in Jagatpuri.
Investigators said repeated attempts to contact their mother later in the day went unanswered. Concerned by the lack of response, Gaurav returned home at about 9.15 p.m., used his own key to enter the apartment and found his mother with multiple injuries. He then informed the police.
CCTV Footage Strengthened Investigation
Police said surveillance footage played an important role in reconstructing the events. According to investigators, the recordings confirmed that after the two children left the residence, only Kamal Singh and his wife remained inside the house.
Officials further stated that the footage reportedly captured the sound of a woman screaming. Soon afterward, the accused was allegedly seen placing an object believed to be the actual weapon inside a bag before leaving the residence. Joint Commissioner of Police (Eastern Range) Ajit Kumar Singla said the CCTV evidence became a significant part of the investigation.
Escape Attempt Ended with Arrest in Mathura
Investigators also found that Singh had withdrawn nearly ₹7 lakh from his bank accounts before leaving Delhi. Police tracked his movements as he travelled toward eastern Uttar Pradesh. Officials believe he initially intended to escape to Nepal but later altered his route and headed toward Mathura in an effort to confuse investigators and avoid arrest.
Acting on technical surveillance and other leads, police located and arrested him near Mathura railway station. During the operation, officials recovered ₹12.75 lakh, which they said was seized as part of the investigation.
Police have continued their inquiry to establish every aspect of the case, including the sequence of events leading to the alleged murder and the accused’s movements after leaving the crime scene. The investigation remains ongoing
