Domestic Violence Case – Actress Aditi Sharma has lodged a domestic violence complaint against her husband, Abhineet Vidyanand Kaushik, along with her mother-in-law, Urmila Kaushik, and sister-in-law, Kirti Kaushik. The complaint was filed at Mumbai’s Goregaon Police Station, where an FIR was registered on July 31. The case includes allegations of physical assault, mental harassment, verbal abuse, domestic violence, questioning of her character, and the alleged misuse of her stridhan, including wedding jewellery.

Relationship Began Through an Acting Class

According to the complaint submitted to the police, Sharma first came into contact with Abhineet in June 2021 while attending an online acting class. Their friendship gradually developed into a romantic relationship. With the approval of both families, the couple began living together in a rented apartment in Goregaon West in September 2024 before solemnising their marriage on November 12, 2024.

Alleged Change in Behaviour After Marriage

In her statement, Sharma claimed that her husband’s attitude changed within just a few days of the wedding. She alleged that he began objecting to her clothing choices and frequently initiated arguments over routine household matters. She further stated that he did not contribute financially to household expenses and instead relied on her for money.

Complaint Details Multiple Allegations

The complaint also mentions an incident on January 1, 2025, when a disagreement over coffee allegedly escalated into a heated argument. Sharma claimed that after this episode, her husband repeatedly questioned her character, accused her of being involved in an extramarital relationship, and regularly checked her mobile phone. She further alleged that he eventually started sleeping in a separate room and discouraged her from maintaining contact with her parents.

Jewellery Retention Among Key Claims

Another major allegation in the complaint concerns Sharma’s wedding jewellery. She claimed that her mother-in-law retained several valuable items, including a gold chain, rings, a diamond ring, mangalsutra, and bangles. Despite repeated requests, she alleged that these belongings were not returned.

Sharma also stated that when her mother-in-law and sister-in-law visited the couple’s residence to discuss ongoing marital issues, they allegedly supported her husband instead of helping resolve the dispute. She accused them of contributing to the harassment she says she experienced.

Police Begin Investigation

Based on the complaint, Goregaon Police have registered a First Information Report against the three accused and initiated an investigation. Authorities are examining the allegations made in the complaint in accordance with the legal process. No official response from the accused has been made public at the time of writing, and the investigation remains ongoing.
