CrimeNews –A deadly shooting inside a bar in Fusagasugá, located in Colombia’s Cundinamarca department, left two people dead on Saturday night after armed attackers opened fire on customers. The incident, which was recorded by the venue’s CCTV cameras, has prompted a police investigation into the motive behind the attack. Authorities have since detained two suspects believed to be connected to the case.
Attack Reported Inside Busy Bar
According to local authorities, the shooting took place at approximately 8:54 pm on August 1 in the Antiguo Ancianato area of Fusagasugá. Witnesses reported that armed men entered the establishment and fired multiple rounds toward a group seated inside the bar. Panic spread among customers as the gunfire erupted.
One of the victims died at the scene, while the second was rushed to a nearby medical facility but later succumbed to injuries. Police identified the deceased as Andrés Felipe González Rodríguez and Karen Vanessa Saldarriaga García.
CCTV Footage Captures Moments of the Shooting
Security camera footage from inside the bar reportedly documented the sequence of events leading up to the attack. Investigators said two individuals arrived at the location on a motorcycle while wearing helmets. One of them entered the premises carrying firearms and immediately began shooting toward a table positioned in one corner of the bar.
The footage circulating on social media appears to show that the attackers focused their gunfire on a man wearing a white T-shirt and a woman dressed in a black top. During the attack, the woman reportedly attempted to shield the man before she was struck by bullets. The assailant then rushed out of the bar and escaped on the waiting motorcycle.
Authorities are examining the surveillance recordings as part of the ongoing investigation to reconstruct the incident and verify the sequence of events.
Police Detain Two Suspects
Law enforcement officials said officers responded quickly after the shooting and tracked the suspects as they attempted to flee the area. Police intercepted two men along Avenida de Las Palmas shortly after the incident and took them into custody.
The detained individuals have been handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office, where they will face further legal proceedings while investigators continue gathering evidence related to the case.
Investigation Into Motive Continues
Authorities have not yet announced a possible motive behind the double homicide. Investigators are working to determine whether the victims were deliberately targeted or whether other circumstances contributed to the shooting.
Officials are also reviewing witness statements, forensic evidence, and surveillance footage collected from the crime scene. At this stage, police have not confirmed whether any additional people suffered injuries during the attack.
